All of these appear to be gathered together in an illusory appearance, but if analyzed, just as there are no eyes and forms there, there is also no mind, so all three are false. Similarly, in a dream, from the sound and ear consciousness produced by the ear and so on, to the objects, faculties, and consciousnesses between the mind and phenomena and mind consciousness, the remaining three are also not produced, but in mere appearance, everything is the same, but if analyzed, everything is empty. Therefore, since all eighteen elements are false in a dream, how can mind consciousness be true? When refuting the Mind-Only school, someone says that there is no consciousness without an object here, because in a dream, there is form belonging to the object of mind consciousness, which is included in the sphere of phenomena, but this statement is also unreasonable, because if there is no form in a dream, there cannot be form included in the sphere of phenomena. If the Mind-Only school thinks that in order to let the Madhyamaka school refute that the object form etc. produced from external earth, water, etc. does not exist, but arises from the Alaya consciousness, and says so, then it is very unreasonable, because it can neither harm others, but instead states its own fame to others (p. 209), All the ways contradict the fame, which will cause others to generate wrong views, because taking the dream as an analogy for the object, faculty, attention, non-inherent existence, and emptiness of waking becomes meaningless, because these three in the dream are not non-inherent existence, false, but truly exist and have function. If you say it is not pervasive, then it is pervasive. If the object, faculty, and attention in the dream are true in being able to function, then all the phenomena such as form etc. that are to be proved by this analogy, the truth that cannot function does not exist, and cannot be established as a false nature. Just as a vase is established without being made, it cannot be used as an analogy to prove that sound is impermanent, this is the stainless reasoning of glorious Chandrakirti. The teacher Śāntarakṣita believes that even in conventional truth, form etc. are not produced from external objects, but from Alaya consciousness, refuting this view, only in conventional truth, it is established that form etc. are produced from external objects, but in ultimate truth, external objects such as form etc. are also not established by themselves, but are empty, for this view, this system

If it were established in conventional terms as well, it would be criticized as deviating from the Madhyamaka school. The great Eastern Tsongkhapa considered that the Svatantrika-Madhyamikas do not show that in dreams, objects such as elephants and subjects do not exist; rather, they affirm all inverted conventionalities as valid conventionalities with "is." This is because they consider the knowledge of the illusory object of appearance there to be infallible (209b). By holding this view, they implicitly acknowledge that the objects and subjects of dreams are also true in valid conventionality. Furthermore, you Prasangikas deny both ultimate truth and truth, and state that they are unreal, like the dream that you implicitly acknowledge as true in valid conventional truth. Because the valid conventional truth that worldly people consider to be ultimately true, which is established as true in the face of innate wisdom, is famous and established to all worldly people. Therefore, according to your view, worldly people will not understand that valid conventional truth is not true through reason and example. If both the analogy and the thesis are established as true in conventionality, they become equally established; if they are not established, they become equally unestablished. Thus, there is no opportunity for the proof to follow the property of the thesis. Therefore, according to your newly established Prasangika system, the proof establishes the unreality of the thesis, and denies both ultimate truth and truth, which is merely a statement and not actually the case. The conclusion repeatedly stated in this way is that, like teachers such as Legden, who establish all phenomena as emptiness by taking dreams as an analogy, Acharya Chandrakirti said that this is a mistake, because he acknowledges that dreams, along with their objects, exist in conventional terms (210a) as true. However, in the snowy land of Tibet, Acharya Chandrakirti takes dreams as an analogy for establishing emptiness, using the fact that the object itself is not established as inherently existent as an analogy, not that dreams, along with their objects, are real in their ability to function in dreams, and therefore do not exist in conventional terms as an analogy. For those who regard this as a place of trust, this Dharma principle should be analyzed.
