So, how is conventional truth established? For the sake of guiding sentient beings to attain results or benefits, these conventional truths, although non-existent in reality, are said to exist because they are recognized as such in the world. Therefore, I speak only from the perspective of the world. The reason for saying this is to refute those who believe that conventional truths are truly established. As the Bhagavan said, "I argue with the world, but I do not argue with the world. Whatever the world deems to exist, I also deem to exist; whatever the world deems not to exist, I also deem not to exist." Just as the realists establish ultimate truth as truly existent, the Madhyamikas do not establish conventional truth in their own system. Therefore, the view that "the ultimate truth of the lower is the conventional truth of the higher," as well as the way in which Sthiramati and other Svatantrikas establish conventional truth, the views of Shantarakshita and others of the Yogachara-Madhyamika school, and the assertion by some Tibetans that conventional truth exists from the perspective of the Prasangika-Madhyamika school, are all flawed. In short, just as the appearance of hairs and the like to someone with cataracts does not exist nominally for someone without cataracts, but in order to reverse the belief in the reality of the appearance of hairs to someone with cataracts, we say that although the appearance of hairs appears, it has no inherent existence. Similarly, although conventional truth is free from elaboration when examined from the perspective of ultimate truth, and does not appear nominally in the equipoise of the noble ones, we do not abandon the nominal designations from form to omniscience for the sake of others, but rather acknowledge them as they are. For those who are deluded, the mere appearance and recognition of these phenomena is the method by which worldly people and logicians reverse all the beliefs in reality that are imputed. This view is the view of those Prasangikas in the land of Tibet who have long been freed from the stain of error. However, the great Tsongkhapa of the East believes that in the unique system of the Prasangikas, conventional truth is established by valid cognition in name only, and therefore it is not an object to be refuted. This does not contradict the establishment of the two truths, so it must be acknowledged as truly existent. It is said that Tsongkhapa directly heard this from the venerable Manjushri. Therefore, these two views are as different as light and darkness. Which one will attain omniscience?
