If something is nonexistent and unknown, and yet possesses the nature of other-power as a real entity, then why should this not exist? What harm has a sow caused to other Vijnanavada schools? Now, it is unreasonable to claim that other-power is the realm of non-conceptual wisdom and not a place of conceptualization. If other-power, as explained earlier, does not arise from self or other, and is not known by either self or other, but is the nature of other-power as a non-conceptual entity, then why shouldn't a sow also exist in the same way? Therefore, to assert that other-power exists while claiming that a sow should not exist, what harm has this sow caused to other Vijnanavada schools? (231b) How much benefit has other-power conferred? Therefore, with equanimity towards both near and far, one should also consider the sow to exist like other-power, in the realm of noble wisdom, free from conceptualization, as an inexpressible nature. Other-power is the object of noble wisdom. As stated in the Ornament of the Sutras: "If that is absent, then its cause, as the clear object is perceived, likewise, if the place is transformed, untrue conceptualization is the object. Just as the world is not confused, it uses desires from its cause. Likewise, the disciplined ascetic is not confused, the transformed place uses desires." And: "Through it, all conditioned phenomena of the three realms, are untrue conceptualizations. The wisdom that is utterly pure, sees through the meaning of non-duality." So it is said. Now, if there is doubt that this contradicts the Madhyamaka school, which states that other-power is not the realm of supreme wisdom, there is no contradiction because the Madhyamaka and Mind-Only schools are each distinct. The Madhyamaka school teaches that other-power, which has the nature of untrue conceptualization, is not the object of noble equipoise. The Vijnanavada school teaches that other-power is merely Vijnana, and is the object of both equipoise and subsequent attainment. Therefore, there is no contradiction based on establishing each school's own system. Otherwise, how can it not be contradictory that in all the Vijnanavada treatises, other-power is empty of the imputed and is the perfected nature, and that if other-power is observed from the aspect of the perfected nature, it is considered the ultimate truth, and that equipoise is the realm of the perfected nature, etc. (232a)? Because if the basis of distinction, which is merely awareness, merely experience, and merely clarity, is not observed, then the awareness of duality is unreasonable.

Furthermore, it is unreasonable to say that other-power (གཞན་དབང་, paratantra, other power) is both the cause of affliction and the cause of purification. Fourth, if other-power exists, one will fall away from the conventional truth; if one falls away from the two truths, one will not attain liberation. Explaining the reason for this, there are three points. First, that which does not exist cannot be a cause, and that it contradicts the world. First point: If other-power does not exist at all, then what will become the cause of the conventional? If it is thought that it is reasonable that there exists other-power that is the cause of the examination of things, that is also unreasonable. Because what other-power will become the cause of conventional things? It will not become the cause, because when there is no establisher and there is an opponent, other-power does not exist at all. This is the connection with the previous. The old commentary says that this is not the view of the root, commentary, and explanation. Second point: According to others, attachment to substance will destroy all the establishments of worldly conventions. The Mind-Only School believes that the cause of conventional terms is other-power, and if that is the case, because it is not the cause of terms, it is impossible for the Mind-Only proponents to establish the establishment of terms, alas, alas. According to the other views of the Mind-Only School, the substance of other-power does not exist, but they are attached to it, thinking that it is doing what it is not doing as the cause of all phenomena of samsara and nirvana. If they say so, then all the establishments of the world, such as "sit down" and "go away," will be destroyed, because the going and coming of the establishment of terms produced by other-power (༢༣༢བ) are impossible in the world. If one thinks, what is the point of destroying it? If one misuses the immediate good and bad of conventions, it will turn into decline, because even higher rebirth cannot be attained. Second: From the path of Master Nagarjuna, there is no method of pacification for outsiders. Those conventional truths themselves fall away from the ultimate truth. By falling away from that, liberation cannot be achieved. Therefore, from the path of Master Nagarjuna's establishment of the two truths, for outsiders, there is no method of pacification, and for the sake of liberation, they arbitrarily fabricate with conceptual thoughts such as Mind-Only, atoms, persons, gods, selves, and Isvara, from the Mind-Only School to the Materialists.
