There is not even a little bit. Therefore, for dependent arising that is truly established, even though there is an appearance of grasping and being grasped like an illusion, which is without true existence, dependent arising itself does not exist in the nature of such a conventional appearance. As it says in the Ornament of the Sutras: "Thus it exists in that, it is not the object of that, thus in illusion and so on, it is said to be existent and non-existent." (226b) Therefore, the Mind-Only school believes that, in terms of the nature of things, the characteristic of the perfectly established Dharmadhatu does not admit anything other than the nature of dependent arising and consciousness. Therefore, to establish dependent arising as non-truly existent through yogic practice is merely a futile effort. It does not matter whether that consciousness is labeled as Alaya-consciousness or wisdom. Because they believe that no reasoning can harm the establishment of the mere moment of knowing, which is the experience of clarity and awareness, as ultimately true, and it is established by that. There is no perfectly established reality with a nature other than dependent arising. As Holy Liberation states when expressing the view of the Yogachara: "Those who think that the Dharmadhatu is extremely pure and that non-dual wisdom itself is the object, according to the view of those people." And, in the commentary on the Condensed Meaning of the Eight Thousand Verses, quoting the Yogachara scripture: "What is called emptiness is other than consciousness, there is nothing else, because from emptiness becoming emptiness, it is considered to be non-different." This is established by this. Moreover, it seems that both the dependent arising accepted by the proponents of true aspects and the dependent arising accepted by the proponents of false aspects acknowledge the two truths separately, based on the mode of establishment that each of them has posited. The proponents of true aspects believe that the dependent arising, which is the nature of the apprehended consciousness, is the ultimate truth. The proponents of false aspects believe that it is impossible for the apprehended to be established as the nature of consciousness, and therefore, like this, there is no ultimate truth other than the conventional imputation of the consciousness. This statement has long been known, so it is not refuted. Two, (227a) Summary. Refutation of the establishment of mindfulness. Showing other ways of refutation, there are three. First: That itself is not established as experiencing that. Although others do not grasp others, there is self-awareness, because oneself grasps oneself. For example, if it is thought that it is like a lamp illuminating itself, then, that dependent arising itself is not established as experiencing that dependent arising itself,

Because of the contradiction of oneself to one's own actions. Just as even a well-trained horse trainer cannot ride on his own shoulders. Secondly, there are two types: the unestablished cannot establish the unestablished, and self-awareness is established but memory is not established. The first is: If it is established from later memory, then for the sake of establishing the unestablished, what is said, this unestablished is not the establisher. Here, some Vijnanavadins, like the Sautrantikas, establish self-awareness and establish other-dependence as self-experience. Like this, all consciousnesses are knowers of both their own nature and objects. For example, fire from the moment it arises is the nature of self-luminosity and the illuminator of pots, etc., and sound also shows both its own nature and meaning. Therefore, even the opponent who does not admit self-awareness, the subject, must necessarily admit self-awareness, because if he does not admit it in this way, the consciousness of 'I saw form' and the experiencer of the object will not become memory. If it is not established, then it becomes established. If memory is the experiencer of the object, then consciousness will also not become memory because of experience. Moreover, if there is no self-awareness, then it will also become that one has not experienced oneself, and if another experiences it, then it will become infinite. Two simultaneous consciousnesses also cannot simultaneously apprehend the object and consciousness, because all consciousnesses are the object of other consciousnesses, and all sentient beings are a single stream of consciousness. When many consciousnesses appear to arise simultaneously, like piercing a hundred lotus petals, the phenomena that arise sequentially are mistaken for one because of the rapid entry. Therefore, if self-awareness is not admitted, then the fault of infinity cannot be avoided, and I also establish that the memory of the object of both having seen form before and the consciousness of having seen it in that way arises later. If the nature of the consciousness of having seen form before does not recognize itself, then it is unreasonable to become its object of memory. If I thought before, 'I saw form,' then from the later memory of the object of both, its cause, the object and consciousness, both become experience. Self-experience of the meaningful self-awareness is established, and after it is established
