What will the fruit become? So it is said. It is not reasonable for the two, existence and non-existence, to be the object of production themselves, because if that were the case, what would the condition do? Because the fault of both sides would be incurred. Since the nature of existence and non-existence cannot exist in one thing, a thing (137n) that has the nature of both existence and non-existence cannot exist, because it is not within the scope of the condition's power. In the scriptures it says: How can nirvana be both a thing and a non-thing? And: What has become a doer or not become [a doer]? What has become or not become, that does not do. Once it has become being and non-being, how can it exist since they contradict each other? So it is said. It is not reasonable for a thing that is separate from the two to be produced, because what will the condition do for that which is separate from the two? Because there is no fruit that abandons both existence and non-existence. If the two to be refuted, existence and non-existence, do not exist, then it is impossible for what is not both of those to be refuted. In the scriptures it says: What does it show in nirvana that is not a thing and not a non-thing? If that non-thing and thing are established, then it will be established. So it is said. Those treatises not only explain that the result of production from the four extremes is not permissible only for other-production, but also for those who say that production is from self and both, and from no cause, and from the chief and from the lord, etc., none of the four extremes of the result are permissible. And it is also shown that the production of dependent arising is free from the four extremes of elaboration. Secondly, the former side and its refutation. First, whoever considers the world to be a valid cognition by abiding in his own view, then what is the use of the words spoken by the wise here? The world also understands that other arises from other, therefore other-production exists, what reason is needed here? Whatever reasons I have stated to establish other-production, they are completely burned by the fire of your intellect like firewood soaked in oil, so it is enough that there is no need to urge the firewood of reason that is dedicated to kindling the fire of your wisdom. Therefore, even if it is not established by reason, there are cases where one's own intention is established, because the meaning established in the world cannot be harmed by reason, because the world's (137b) seeing is extremely powerful. This is following the reasonable and unreasonable of worldly people.

Without entering into others, but abiding in one's own seeing, that is, view, and engaging in taking and abandoning objects; having done so, simply because meaning is obtained, it is considered that the direct perception of the world is a measure, therefore, here it is reasonable to say that other-birth is reasonable, simply because the reason for establishing it is spoken, what observation is still to be done? There is no need to do it, because the arising of other fruits from other causes is also something that worldly people can understand through direct perception. Therefore, there is no need to establish it with reason, because it has been established that other-birth exists, so what still needs to be established with effort by reason here? There is no need to establish it, because reason is suitable for speaking about things that are not directly perceived, but not suitable for direct perception. If so, secondly, even if other-birth is established, it will not harm when practicing that very nature, and also, other-birth has not been established for worldly people either. First, incidentally explain the system of the two truths. Directly show that the ordinary world will not harm. First, generally show the difference between the two truths. Explain in detail the essence of each. First, show the difference between the real and the incidental false seeing. The first is: all real things are seen as true and false, the two essences of real things obtained will be clung to. The object of true seeing is that very nature, false seeing is called conventional truth. Without understanding the meaning of the treatises that show profound dependent arising, due to the ripening of the habit of clinging to real things, one clings to things, and also has not heard that the nature of things is empty of self-nature, so in the world there is other-birth, and if there is no other-birth, it will be harmed by the direct perception of the world, like this, speaking nonsense under the control of the sleep of ignorance (༡༣༨ན). If it is not explained how temporary true and false names circulate in this world due to the influence of delusion and non-delusion, and also if the system of true and false names is not explained only there, it will not be possible to eliminate the clinging of worldly people who speak nonsense. In order to show the difference between whether the direct perception of the world harms other-birth, etc., in order to show that the system of establishing the two truths on all dharmas like this depends on whether establishing it like this is a harmful object, the Blessed One showed that for all external and internal things, such as sprouts, etc., there are truths.
