One side should be abandoned. Therefore, the nature of things, phenomena, does not exist in conditions, etc. If my thing does not exist, how can other things exist? The word "etc." in "conditions, etc." is the seventh case locative, that is, each cause and condition of conditions, etc., or the collection, such as a wooden stick, the nature of things, phenomena, does not exist in others, if it has not transformed into the nature of things, then it does not exist in the nature of things. If it is not so, the thing is not born, how can it exist in conditions, etc.? Any thing that does not exist in any place, at any time, is not produced from where conditions, etc. exist, like extracting oil from sand. If that does not exist, it can also be produced from those conditions, then why is it not produced from non-conditions? So it is said. If it is thought that the nature of things that has transformed into the nature of things exists as different entities on causes and conditions, then the view that cause and effect are not simultaneous should also be abandoned. Second, refuting the example of fault and refuting it. The first is: Just as the height of the two ends of a scale is not seen simultaneously, similarly, will the arising and ceasing of what is to be produced and the producer (cause) occur simultaneously? Also, it is said that seeds and sprouts do not exist simultaneously, which is unreasonable, because the arising of what is to be produced (effect) and the producer (cause) will occur simultaneously, because when the seed ceases, the sprout will arise. Seeds and sprouts exist simultaneously elsewhere, such as the height of the head and tail of the two ends of a scale, which is not seen simultaneously. Similarly, it should be understood here as well. Second, the reason why the example and meaning are inconsistent, and refuting its answer. First, statement and explanation. The first is: If one exists, then it will not exist simultaneously here, nor is it so. If the example of the scale is used to understand the simultaneous arising and ceasing of cause and effect, it is unreasonable, because the two are inconsistent. For example, the height of the scale occurs at the same time, but here the arising and ceasing of cause and effect do not occur simultaneously, therefore that example cannot prove that meaning exists (page 135 verso)

It is not good to answer in this way. Secondly, if that which is being born is tending towards birth, therefore it does not exist; that which is being destroyed, although it exists, is considered to be tending towards destruction. Then, this is like a scale. In reality, the arising and ceasing of cause and effect cannot exist simultaneously, that is, they cannot exist at the same time. If the sprout that is being born is the future tending towards birth, therefore it does not exist; the seed that is being destroyed is the present, although it exists, it is considered to be tending towards destruction. Because it has not yet become a fruit, it has not arisen, therefore it does not exist now. The cause itself, which exists now and is being destroyed, does not tend towards birth. In that case, the simultaneous arising and ceasing of cause and effect is like the high and low of a balance beam. This is not similar, because the cause of pulling the weight is past, and the effect of the balance beam being high and low occurs simultaneously, which is one moment in the present. The action of arising and ceasing of cause and effect cannot occur simultaneously in the present. Secondly, this arising has no agent and is not the essence of reason. If it is said that although the dharmas of earth and sprout are not simultaneous, the action of arising and ceasing is simultaneous, that is not possible, because action has not been proven to be different from dharma. Furthermore, the action of the sprout arising, when the seed is destroyed, without the agent sprout, is not the essence of existence and reason, because the agent of the action of arising, the sprout, is in the future, therefore it does not exist. If it does not exist, then the relied upon does not exist, and the relying action also does not exist. The action of arising and ceasing cannot be established simultaneously. Then, in the Sutra of the Salu Green, it says that just like the high and low of a balance beam, in the moment when the seed is destroyed, the sprout arises. (135b) Isn't that what it says? Although it is said, that is not for the purpose of showing the arising of other things and their own characteristics, but for the purpose of showing that they arise simultaneously in dependence, established without examination, like an illusion. As it is said: From the seed destroyed and not destroyed, a sprout will not arise. Therefore, you say that all arising is like the arising of an illusion.
