As it appears, it is not established, and it is said that it does not exist. All things are established and exist as they appear, and it is said that all extremes of proliferation, such as arising and ceasing, permanence and annihilation, oneness and otherness, are shown to be free from definitive meaning. All phenomena are empty of their own nature, unborn, unceasing, primordially peaceful, and naturally completely liberated from sorrow. All scriptures that show freedom from all proliferation and characteristics from the beginning are all interpretable with hidden meanings. Conversely, all the various statements about permanence and annihilation, truth and falsehood, etc., become definitive, just like the literal meaning. Furthermore, the Madhyamaka doctrine, which is merely nominally dependent on arising, free from all extremes of proliferation such as existence and non-existence, arising and ceasing, coming and going, permanence and annihilation, oneness and otherness, becomes erroneous. And the doctrines of the internal and external heretics who view existence and non-existence, permanence and annihilation, etc., become unerring. The wisdom of the Buddha, who sees all phenomena such as samsara and nirvana, what should be abandoned and what should be adopted, existence and non-existence, the three times, etc., as equal without any difference between the nature and characteristics of all phenomena (p. 167), becomes erroneous, while the minds of those who cling to these as different entities become unerring, because the reason is that one's own desire is applied as the reason. In particular, even if we consider the details of your own system, all the samadhi of the noble ones will become erroneous, because the validity establishes the meaning of existence and non-existence of conventional truth, but that validity does not see anything of its existence and non-existence, etc. Validity has refuted it, and the conventional dharma, in general, is established by validity, how can it exist? If one claims to realize that the dharma established by validity is not established by validity, then it can only be a delusion. After that, the latter reason is accepted. The former reason is not established, because the samadhi wisdom of the noble ones abides equally in the meaning of ultimate truth, not equally in the meaning of conventional truth, nor is it because the dharma of conventional truth is not established and is refuted by validity. If you think so, then when the wisdom of the noble ones abides equally in the ultimate, the appearance of the false truth of convention will not disappear.

Therefore, it is established by valid cognition. Because at the time of equipoise wisdom, it is not eliminated by that valid cognition. Moreover, when the wisdom of the noble ones abides in the ultimate truth, it is not necessary to rely on conventional dharmas to enter into equipoise. Because when it abides in that, it does not enter into the basis of the conventional truth established by name-and-concept valid cognition with the attention of suchness, but rather discards that conventional (168a) like a rag, and then the wisdom of the noble ones directly grasps the nature of that conventional, namely the non-affirming negation of the ultimate truth, and abides in it. If you accept this, then the wisdom of the noble ones eliminates the erroneous superimposition on conventional dharmas, and therefore it is impossible to realize the non-erroneous ultimate truth. Because you accept that. If you accept this, then the equipoise wisdom of the noble ones cannot eliminate all the bonds of elaboration such as afflictions. Because it has not eliminated any erroneous superimposition on conventional dharmas. Furthermore, if you think it is not established, then it is established. Because the valid cognition of reasoning and the valid cognition of the equipoise wisdom of the noble ones are not valid cognitions for establishing or refuting the existence or non-existence of the conventional. Because you say that they are valid cognitions that engage in establishing or refuting the existence or non-existence of the object to be refuted. According to your view, when the noble ones see the ultimate truth as it is, they will not see the reality of all things, because they have not first seen the reality of the conventional. Because all the wisdom that sees it is conventional valid cognition, and it does not enter into the object of the ultimate as it is. You yourself accept this subject and pervasion. They have not seen the reality of the ultimate, because the ultimate is the part of the conventional dharma, namely its own nature naturally pacified. As it is said in the Madhyamaka scriptures, thus understanding, the wisdom that realizes as it is manifests the ultimate truth (168b). In this way, you do not want to become nihilistic, and although conventional truth itself is not empty, you believe that the noble ones see the suchness of the ultimate truth by seeing the emptiness that is empty of the truth established by the way it abides on its own object. Because such emptiness is not the suchness of the ultimate, the subject.
