The reason for saying that it is obscured by being viewed is that the eye, with its cataract, does not cause the harm of confusion to the consciousness without cataract, just as the hair-like objects, etc., do not. Likewise, the mind of a child who has abandoned stainless wisdom, even if confused and seeing other births, does not cause the harm of confusing the stainless mind of the noble ones. Because the view of ordinary beings is not seen by the noble ones, it is a place of ridicule. Second, regarding the explanation of the nature of conventional and ultimate reality. The first part is: Ignorance obscures the nature, hence it is conventional. Whatever is fabricated by it appears as true. That is the conventional truth, as the capable one said. Things that have become fabricated are conventional. After stating that all things are the nature of the two truths, the worldly conventional truth is explained: Ignorance is what makes sentient beings confused about the true nature, or fabricates something other than the true nature, thereby obscuring the seeing of the true nature. Such a dharma is established as conventional, and the reason has already been stated. The nature of ignorance, that is, conventionality, clings to things that have no nature as if they exist, and even if they are not actually involved, they appear as true due to the power of false dependent origination. This is the conventional truth, as the capable one has said. Among these, false conventionalities such as the images of dependent origination are recognized as false even by children. Blue and other colors appear as true, and emptiness of inherent existence does not appear to them without obscuration. Therefore, the ultimate nature and false conventionality are not conventional truths. The conventional truth is distinguished by the afflicted ignorance that is included in the limbs of existence. If we strictly follow the words of the commentary on the "Entering the Middle Way" here, then the idea of clinging to conventionality as true clearly pervades the afflictive obscurations. What makes the conventional truth appear is the root of existence—ignorance. For children who have not transformed, conventionality appears as true; for noble ones who have transformed, conventionality does not appear as true, because they see it only as conventional. Therefore, it has been clearly stated that clinging to truth pervades the afflictive obscurations, which is Chandrakirti's view.
