Unwilling to abandon, yet thinking it impossible to cultivate non-thought. If there is, then offer to the Guru and Three Jewels. If there is not, then relax awareness and sleep. Father Jambudvipa (འཛམ་བུ་གླིང་, Jambudvīpa) claims this. Also, from the mouth of the Venerable Knower of the Three Times: Samsara and Nirvana abide as non-dual, a mind free from hope and doubt. Wind and mind abide as non-dual, has the practice of channels and winds ceased? Appearance and mind abide as non-dual, a mind free from grasper and grasped. Also, the Bliss-Gone Vajravarahi Dorje Pagmo said: The waves of self-grasping afflictions, are the wisdom of the Buddhas of the three times. The darkness of conceptual thought and ignorance, is the great bliss of luminosity free from elaboration. The blazing of the three poisons of affliction, is the mandala of the victorious ones of wisdom. The ocean of suffering of samsara, is the palace of nirvana. The waves of conceptual thought, grasper and grasped, are the unchanging Buddhas of the three times. Thus, and so on, countless things appeared. Regarding this, some people doubt in this way: Those scriptures quoted just now, although they negate that conceptual Dharmakaya and so on, arising from the two truths, are different, they do not negate that their essence is one. According to the literal meaning, it seems undeniable that they explain the essence as being one. Indeed, it is true. These venerable supreme ones spoke of conceptual thought Dharmakaya, that is, the two truths, as being of one essence, because for those individuals whose disease of clinging to reality is very dense, who think that in the two truths, samsara and nirvana, conceptual thought Dharmakaya, and so on, there is a very great difference between good and bad, high and low, in terms of actual power. For those who cling to reality in this way, there is not even a little bit of difference in the essence of things such as samsara and nirvana, in terms of good and bad, high and low, excellent and inferior, but rather they are equality, the same nature, the same essence, undifferentiated, the same, undifferentiated, and the thusness that is not other, in one way. It is not that apart from this, the essence of things such as samsara and nirvana is spoken of as being one. Because in the state of no self-nature, combining the sound of "one" with equality, this is how all the literal meanings of the scriptures that reveal profound meaning, such as the Bhagavan's Queen of Victory, and so on, are. What exists is just the literal meaning.

The reason for needing to record this is that it originates from the teachings of the Great Vehicle Madhyamaka, which clarifies the definitive meaning, transmitted by the blessed Nagarjuna and his spiritual sons and followers. Therefore, relying on the directly revealed scriptural statements just cited, it may prevent those without merit from conceiving the nature of things that abide in reality, such as the two truths, conceptualizations, and the Dharmakaya, as being one. However, for those with merit, once they understand the meaning of the scripture's direct revelation, all conceptions of the two truths as being of one or different essence will naturally dissolve. This is because Buddhas and Bodhisattvas teach the Dharma in various ways to generate the great meaning of liberation and omniscience in beings of various mental capacities. For, meaning is not to be understood solely by relying on literal words. All Sutras and Tantras (149b) teach the Dharma, and only praise the practice of relying on the four reliances. Therefore, even in the case of confusion arising from the directly revealed scriptural statements just cited, it does not occur to those with merit. As it is said: "Existing, non-existing, existing and non-existing, can also be called non-dual. Because of the power of illness, everything can also be called medicine, isn't it?" Because there is such a saying. Considering the meaning just explained, a Sakya master named "Fame" said: "The iron-burning ground of hell, is the true meaning of Akanishta. The burning of hot and cold suffering, is the Dharmakaya free from elaboration. The views of external heretics, is the true meaning of Madhyamaka." Because there is such a saying. Regarding the literal meaning of the scripture's direct revelation, no wise person other than a fool would possibly generate confusion. Therefore, those great Kagyu masters, such as Jetsun Sangye Nyenpa Rechen, who obtained the pure eye free from the defilement of confusion regarding the nature of the two truths, saw no real phenomena other than establishing all phenomena as emptiness and dependent arising. Zhang Rinpoche said: "Emaho, I, the beggar monk of Zhang, when looking inward at my own mind, there is no basis to be identified. Free from the doubt of permanence and solidity, self-luminous and light."
