So, are these two truths (the ultimate truth and the conventional truth) one or many? Neither is the case. As far as the minds of children are concerned, it is not one, because the ultimate truth does not appear; nor is it many, because many are not seen. As far as the samadhi of the noble ones is concerned, it is not one, because the appearances of various conventions do not appear; nor is it many, because many are not seen. If they were seen, then phenomena that are not empty would appear, not separated from the characteristics of conditioned phenomena, and therefore not liberated from the bonds of characteristics, and therefore would become not liberated from the bonds of bad migrations, and if not liberated from these two, then nirvana and perfect enlightenment would be absolutely impossible. Therefore, if the wisdom of the noble ones does not even see these bases of difference, then what need is there to mention whether the distinguishing characteristics are one or many, and so on? As far as the minds of children are concerned, it is established as inexpressible as "that" or "other," because these are mutually dependent on the truth and become false, and dependent on the false and become established as true, that is, dependent on one and establishing one. Whatever depends on something, that is not one with that thing, because the place of dependence and the object of dependence are contradictory. Nor is it other, because if the dependent does not exist, then the other does not exist, and it cannot be dependent. If it exists, then there is no need to depend on the other. So, if one thinks that even in the minds of children, it cannot be said to be "that," therefore it has become many; or if one thinks that it cannot be said to be "other," therefore it has become "that," that is not the case. Just as in the face of conceptualization, a gold vase and a silver vase cannot be said to be "that," therefore it does not become many; and it cannot be said to be many, therefore it does not become "that." Even so, in the minds of children, there may be false conceptualizations by imputing the two truths as one or different. But even with such conceptualizations, there is no instance of the two truths becoming one or different. Therefore, the discerning ones will understand that if the two truths are not one, then they are not different; and if they are not different, then they are not one, because both truths are reasonably established as phenomena that are dependent. Whatever phenomena are established as dependent, become the meaning of the two truths.

Because it is not established that there are things that are one and different. Therefore, like the omniscient wisdom, it does not grasp any elaboration, and other than that which is free from all elaborations, it is called the ultimate truth, and before it is established as the ultimate truth, it is nominally established as the ultimate truth, and then it is falsely asserted that it is without birth and death, and like the view of self, the ignorant mind is not other than the elaborating conventional dharma, and before it is established as the conventional truth, it is nominally established as the conventional truth, and then it is falsely asserted that it is subject to birth and death, and the two truths are not different in meaning. The Kagyu Rinpoche says that conceptual thought is the Dharmakaya, Samsara and Nirvana, and affliction is wisdom. When it is said that way, it is not to establish that the conceptual Dharmakaya, Samsara and Nirvana, etc., which have the meaning of the two truths, are one entity, because the otherness is denied in meaning, so the oneness of the entity is also denied, because if the otherness of the related opposites that are merely in meaning does not exist separately, then the related dharmas that have become meaningful, such as otherness, cannot be established as being one entity. Therefore, the denial of otherness in meaning of conceptual Dharmakaya etc. is: Je Gampopa said: This co-born consciousness, Hold it tightly as wisdom, When certainty arises, You will see that nature. This conceptual thought arising from the mind, Hold it tightly as the ultimate, If you experience it, You will see its essence. This appearance and sound of habitual tendencies of conceptual thought, Hold it tightly as the Dharmakaya, When you attain realization, You will see the truth. And said: This appearance that has never been experienced, Now you know it is the Dharmakaya, Do not seek other views. This self-mind that has never been separated, Now you know it is the Buddha, Do not seek other fruits. This continuous conceptual thought, Now you know it is wisdom, Do not seek other experiences. This ordinary consciousness, Unwavering, now you know it is meditation, Do not seek other accomplishments. And said: Je Gompapa Tsultrim Nyingpo said: This wisdom co-born with the mind, If you hold it tightly, it is the natural state, If you loosen it, it is free from elaboration, If you realize it simultaneously, it is the Dharmakaya. Conceptual thought
