And, in the Pramāṇavārttika, it says, "There is no real existence other than this." And, "There is no other form than this." and so on, endlessly. Therefore, for those who assert things exist, things are existent, and whatever thing is existent, its opposite is non-existent, and like that, whichever of the three categories of existence and non-existence, being and non-being, etc., is accepted, one abides in the four great extreme positions of asserting things as existent and non-existent. To the realists who accept the existence and non-existence of things, the Madhyamikas say, "If things exist, then the non-existence of things is impossible; if things do not exist, then the existence of things is impossible." To that position, they state many harms that contradict the commitment. As it says in the Tsongkhapa's Root Text, "If the very non-existence of inherent existence is reversed, then it will become established as inherent existence." and so on. When speaking like that, even in the Madhyamika's own system, if existence and non-existence of things, etc., are not established in either of the two truths, then if things exist, the non-existence of things is destroyed. In one's own system, even in a dream, it is not said, but to say it there, others say that it is unreasonable, and to the one who speaks like that, another famous statement that is harmful even by the speaker's own words is repeated there, and it is refuted that speaking like that is unreasonable. If the meaning of words and the two truths are one, then they must not be different; and if they are different, then they must not be one, which is said to be what happens to any worldly person who believes that the two truths are established as a basis, because for a dharma that is established as a basis, if either one or different is not established as a basis, then the basis will not be established. Then, will the Madhyamikas also accept either one or different for the two truths? No, because for us Madhyamikas, when we analyze, we are free from speaking, thinking, and expressing about whether the two truths are established or not established as a basis. Know that how could we ever conceive of the essence of the two truths as one or different? Here, the words of the great Tsongkhapa and his followers say: If the existence and non-existence of things, etc., which are established by conventional valid cognition, are not established as such in their own right, then it is to slander cause and effect and to fall into the supreme nihilistic view. In particular, for the Madhyamika-Prāsaṅgikas, when refuting and establishing whether the views of oneself and others are reasonable or not, if in one's own system things exist, then non-existence

And, if it is not truly existent, it must be acknowledged as non-existent. Because it says in the Refutation: "If self-nature is refuted, then it will be established as self-nature." Therefore, if the meaning of emptiness is not established as true, it must be established as truly non-existent. If its meaning is not true, it must exist as truly non-existent. If it is not so, then in any case, the measure cannot be trusted. He said so. This is unreasonable. Because according to your statement, then the quote from the Refutation, because the Consequentialist Madhyamikas must acknowledge that they contradict their own tenets in terms of truly existent and non-existent, so they must also acknowledge that truly existent and non-existent exist in the Consequentialist Madhyamikas' own tenets. If so, then the Consequentialist Madhyamikas who acknowledge truly existent and non-existent are clearly not true Madhyamikas. Because acknowledging the extremes of truly existent and non-existent is known and established as being a realist. Because the person who is separated from the expression of speech (145n) after thoroughly refuting truly existent and non-existent etc. through reason, and thus does not establish anything in any truly existent and non-existent etc., is established as a Madhyamika. Therefore, in the Consequentialist Madhyamika's own tenets, if truly existent is refuted, then truly non-existent must be acknowledged. Saying this is speaking as a Madhyamika in words, but in reality it has become a realist. Here Zilung Shakya the Great says: There are two situations in which the Madhyamikas acknowledge or do not acknowledge the quote from the Refutation as their own tenets. In the middle, in the case of refuting the self, if truly existent is refuted, then truly non-existent is acknowledged. In the end, in the case of observing all refutations, refuting the truly existent self and truth etc., but not establishing that the truly existent self and truth etc. do not exist, this latter way is unique to the Consequentialists, surpassing the Autonomist Madhyamikas, and is a supreme tenet. He said so. This is unreasonable. Because in one's own tenets, saying that truly existent and non-existent and the real contradictions based on them etc. exist in meaning is itself being a realist. Because there is no time when the Madhyamikas stay on the side of the realists even in the middle, in the case of refuting the self. There, if the Madhyamikas stay on the side of the realists and thus can acknowledge it, then it is unreasonable to stay on that side and thus acknowledge it even in the case of observing all refutations.
