It is said that the great translator said that early and late refer to the reasoning methods popular during the time of the teacher Asanga and Vasubandhu, which are called early, and the reasoning methods thoroughly researched by Dignāga and Dharmakīrti are called late. Therefore, by applying the reasoning that is considered reliable in the world, the absence of self is clarified, which is not confused with the negation of arising from self. Because the phrase "existing in its own nature" is the sign of the Sāṃkhya's own admission, the Sāṃkhya itself expresses the contradiction through inference. Therefore, Asaṅga's combination is unreasonable because it does not state the reason and example. If stated, the teacher (110b) Asaṅga not only did not state the reason and example, but also did not eliminate the faults stated by other Sāṃkhyas. How to eliminate the faults? The Sāṃkhyas do not want the pot in front of them to be of an obvious nature, and the obvious pot itself is established here as the essence of an example with two characteristics, so there is no contradiction. Moreover, the ability to produce the obvious pot is the essence of the cause, and it exists in the essence of the pot that is not of an obvious nature, distinguished by preventing the re-emergence on the special basis of the golden pot, because it has not been established in the position of the refuter before, so it is precisely what needs to be proven. How can there be the fault of proving what is already established, or suspecting the meaning of contradictory reasons? Because the sign exists in the similar example, there is no fault of contradiction. Because the commitment of inference is eliminated, there is no fault of proving what is already established. Because there is no fault of contradiction and proving what is already established, in the inference committed by the refuter himself, even if the contradiction of the commitment is expressed, there is no sin of the sign and sectarian fault as mentioned earlier, because Asaṅga does not have it. There is no sin of not eliminating the faults stated by other Sāṃkhyas. Therefore, Bhāviveka's refutations of Asaṅga are those of the great teacher Asaṅga.

It should be known that if samadhi is not understood, there is no connection at all. Here, by phrases such as "pots (111a) and so on are not born from self," it is not that blankets and so on are born from self, so it is uncertain, but because it is intended to include all objects that are intended to be produced as not born from self. Therefore, the reason for preventing self-birth is neither contradictory, nor uncertain, nor unestablished. Alternatively, this syllogism is a different method from the previously stated syllogism, namely, the Samkhya school says that knowable things are determined to be twenty-five, and then they consider these things to have four

Because it prevents expressing the meaning of manifestation with the term "re-arising." Similarly, it also prevents the non-manifest existing in the causal state from manifesting and arising from its own nature in the resultant state. This way of combining this explanatory term is also one category. If one thinks that preventing re-arising does not hinder speaking of manifest arising, then the term "re-arising" is applied to the manifest pot, saying that it does not arise from itself. The reason for this application is that what was not seen before is seen later, and they are similar in terms of phenomena. Therefore, the term "arising" expresses the manifest pot and so on themselves. Therefore, preventing the arising of the manifest pot does not hinder the self-arising of the manifest of all things, because it is not that it does not hinder. This category also comes from early old commentaries and explanations. In some old texts (112a) it is written: The meaning is, if one wants to make manifest, does one make manifest what is already manifest, or does one make manifest what is not manifest? If it is the former, then it is meaningless; if it is the latter, then the pledge of self-illumination is broken. Also, if someone asks: How did you, Chandrakirti, obtain this kind of reasoning, which does not express the meaning of the real contradictory refutation as stated by the Buddhist master Buddhapālita, and does not express the meaning stated by the five-membered syllogism, but instead conducts this kind of analysis? Answer: It should be said that Buddhapālita's syllogism and so on, these words that rely on meaning, are concise in words but great in meaning. Therefore, the meaning stated by the syllogism and so on is summarized into words, and then a detailed explanation of the meaning is made. The refutations of the faults of the syllogism by the former master Buddhapālita, if explained in terms of meaning, are expressing the nature of the meaning of the syllogism and so on as words. Therefore, in the context of debating with the Samkhya school, it is impossible for Buddhapālita not to show words and so on at all for the sake of refutation. At this time, the statement of the omniscient Yeshe Zepa (a great master of the Kadampa school of Tibetan Buddhism) is: Here, Buddhapālita's inference is not an inference that takes a non-place as a place, while what Lekden said there is an inference that takes a non-place as a place, there is such a difference.
