In order to eliminate the realization of non-dharma by relying solely on the consideration of the rationality and irrationality of one's own and others' arguments, thereby comprehending the correct meaning. As it is said: If the world is a valid cognition, then what is the use of other noble ones seeing only the world? What is the use of the path of the noble ones? Fools are also not valid cognitions because they are unreasonable. Because the world is not a valid cognition in any way, the world is not harmed in that situation. In particular, when seeking suchness that is free from elaboration, it is necessary to ascertain that the three aspects of the worldly conventional, namely, characteristics, dharma, and meaning, which serve as its basis, are established by nominal valid cognition. To say that it is necessary to do so is simply to speak without understanding the meaning of the venerable Chandrakirti's statement that all phenomena are not established by their own nature. Because, when seeking suchness, the characteristics, dharma, etc. of the worldly conventional, as the basis for seeking suchness (97b), should not be examined by nominal valid cognition as to whether they are established. Because, with the valid cognition of reason, the characteristics, dharma, etc. of the worldly conventional cannot be found to be established nominally apart from suchness itself, and merely because of this, it harms those who want to find them in that way. You are reversing these words, because, as it is said: Because if these things are analyzed, their existence cannot be found outside of things that have self-nature, therefore, the nominal conventions of the world should not be analyzed as to whether they are true. You are acting like a thief who kills a rich man and then hides the rich man's body in a deserted place. This school says that in this case of speaking about the reasoning of seeking suchness, let alone that suchness and the characteristics, dharma, etc. of seeking in this way are established by nominal valid cognition, even if only at that time, all the dharmas of the worldly conventional, in relation to the debater, are refuted nominally by the reasoning of examining suchness, but there is no refutation or establishment whatsoever in the ultimate truth. Therefore, at that time, one abides in freedom from all the elaborations of refutation and establishment. As Chandrakirti says in the Madhyamakavatara: Refutation and establishment are both refutation alone; for reality, there is no refutation or establishment whatsoever. If one becomes accustomed to this, one will attain excellence. And this teacher says that in the world,

Regarding those who assert inference that arises naturally after manifestation, without examining such valid means, they merely make subsequent statements based on feeling good, and use that as the (98a) basis for seeking its refutation and establishment. However, when seeking it, because they refute with conventional valid means such as characteristics and properties of worldly conventions, if they prove it in a mutually agreeable manner in the debate, then the three aspects of the established characteristic, property, and meaning are not established. This doctrine is unique to the Madhyamaka-Prasaṅgikas, a teaching of the Madhyamaka-Prasaṅgikas that is established as unrivaled in debate. If someone says that direct perception and so on are contradictory, the answer is: No, I have not prohibited feeling good without examination. That is not what I have prohibited. For the sake of merely establishing conventions, it is not a subject and reason. Thus it is said. Therefore, the great Prasaṅgika master of snowy Tibet, Khu Mdo-sde, said in his "Tog ge tho ba": Although there is no valid means, due to commitment and contradiction, it eliminates the wrong conceptions of oneself and others. For a mere wrong conception of wrong conception, it is called certainty. And so on, he said much, and the main point is only this. He made many refutations of the presentations of valid means of refutation and establishment of the Madhyamaka-Prasaṅgika system of Dignāga, Dharmakīrti, and Nāma. This is also because they consider the refutation and establishment with elaboration, self-establishment, and the reality of the two truths as something that should be prevented in the context of Madhyamaka proponents. But when seeking the reality of Madhyamaka, if the Madhyamikas make that method of refutation and establishment known to others, and say that one should not establish one's own faults and words of establishment in that way, then it would be too extreme. In particular, in the Clear Words, from what is it understood that there is no arising, from having valid means or not having valid means? When he raised doubts from within and challenged, the answer is: How should it be said? If there is something called certainty for us, (98b) then it is either born from valid means or born from non-valid means, but existence is impossible. Why? Because if there is uncertainty here, then one must rely on it, and it becomes its antidote. When at some point we do not have uncertainty, then how can there be certainty that contradicts it? Because it does not rely on other related things, just like the horns of a donkey being long and short. When there is no certainty in that way, why would one fully investigate valid means in order to establish something?
