As you said, it is good. Third, regarding the Madhyamaka tradition held by the great Tsongkhapa, who personally relied on the venerable Manjushri, here is an explanation of how the views of the Prasangika and Svatantrika schools diverge. Here, I quote the original words of Khedrup Je, the eldest son of that [Tsongkhapa]: The Prasangika asserts that, as far as the subject, which is established by its own characteristic, is concerned, there is no valid cognition to measure it even conventionally. Therefore, it is impossible for the subject to be established by valid cognition for both the proponent and the opponent to agree upon. However, in general, the subject is established by valid cognition for both the proponent and the opponent. The subject and the property of the subject, etc. (94b) In the opponent's system, the reason that is stated based on the acceptance established by valid cognition is the inference known to others. Merely through the Prasangika argument, one can generate the realization of no self-existence in others. The Svatantrika, on the other hand, asserts that, from the way things exist, the attainment of not being mistaken about the object to be measured, which is established by its own characteristic, is agreed upon by both the proponent and the opponent. Upon that subject, the property to be proven, which the proponent initially wanted to measure, is stated as the reason that establishes it. This is the meaning of the Svatantrika sign. It seems to be explained in this way. Furthermore, here are the original words of Gungru Gyaltsen, the son of that [Tsongkhapa]: Searching for the imputed meanings of the terms "sign," "property," and "meaning," and then engaging in affirmation and negation based on what is agreed upon by both the proponent and the opponent, is the system of the Svatantrika. Even though there is no establishment by valid cognition, searching for the imputed meanings of the sign, property, and meaning, but engaging in affirmation and negation based on what is agreed upon by both the proponent and the opponent through conventional valid cognition, is the system of the Prasangika. It seems to be explained in this way. These two brothers are both consistently regarded as upholders of the teachings who have realized the intention of the glorious Tsongkhapa. Even so, if the meaning of Prasangika and Svatantrika is explained in this way, then it is merely a fabrication to say that the great masters of the Prasangika and Svatantrika schools, who would never even dream of such a view, hold it. The great masters of the Prasangika school do not assert that the sign, property, and meaning, which are agreed upon by both the proponent and the opponent, are established by valid cognition in both truths (95a). That is not established by the valid cognition of discriminating awareness that measures ultimate reality, nor by the valid cognition of the meditative wisdom of the noble ones. Conventional

The measuring pramana is the consequentialist, because they say that in both truths, pramana itself is not established. The first reason is established, because if it is established, then the reason, dharma, and meaning three will all become the ultimate truth. You yourselves also acknowledge the pervasiveness of the reason, and cannot deny it. The second reason is established, because although the consequentialists reluctantly say in front of worldly people that other-powered worldly conventional real things are real things in the eyes of worldly people, you say that those conventional real things are established as functioning through nominal pramana, which is not only not acknowledged in the ultimate truth, but also not in the conventional truth. As it is said: Just as you want other-powered things to be real, I have not acknowledged the conventional either. For the sake of the result, even though these do not exist, they do exist, I say this in front of the world. Just as you abide in your own nature, and use your own tenets to understand the nature of other-powered things, which is to be comprehended by the wisdom of the noble ones, I do not think that way about the conventional. What then? Although it does not exist, only what is known in the world exists, this is only said to the world, because what is said afterwards is to eliminate it. As the Bhagavan said: The world argues with me, I do not argue with the world, Whatever the world thinks exists, I also think exists. Whatever the world thinks does not exist, I also think does not exist. Because it is said that way. Consequentialists and realists cannot possibly acknowledge that worldly conventional real things are established in common appearance through nominal pramana, because consequentialists have not at all established the nature of worldly conventional things in their own tenets. If that is not established, then how can the differences of real things, the reason, dharma, and meaning three, be established through nominal pramana? Therefore, the teacher said that in his own tenets, worldly conventional things in both truths, whether through nominal intelligence or the self-aware wisdom of the noble ones, prevent establishment through pramana, and the world was frightened by this and argued with the Bhagavan. The Bhagavan said that in both truths, I know its reality as it is
