Because one would not even dream of relying on it to accept or reject, even if one does not accept the establishment of terminology, but establishes it in accordance with the common consent of others, it is not only this teacher, but also the venerable Dharmakīrti who establishes some such terminological establishments for the sake of others. As it is said: Although the wise have no distinctions, because of those with inverted views, the experience of the grasped and the grasper arises as if possessing differences. And: The knowledges of the grasped and the grasper, although they are not existent, the measurable and the measurer abide in the result, just as they appear accordingly. Thus, although one does not accept it oneself, one speaks in accordance with others. And: The sound and meaning are the same as the basis, although they are not existent, but how are they, as they are commonly accepted, spoken of? This is impossible in reality. The establishment of dharma and dharmatā, and what is different and non-different, without considering the meaning of that itself, how is it commonly accepted in the world? Relying solely on that, all that is to be proven and the proof are established, for the sake of entering the meaning of the ultimate, the wise have all created. Thus, the sound and meaning are not truly self-characterized, but are designated as such to show others what is to be known. So, if you say that the refutation and establishment of the basis for seeking suchness is the other-acceptance that accords with the conventional world, then, like the worldly Lokāyata and the cowherd, those who have not yet become vessels for the Madhyamaka suchness, who have not tasted the flavor of the nectar of suchness, for whom the other-acceptance of their refutation and establishment does not exist, when they enter into suchness, is saying that relying on the terminology of the common consent of worldly fools to refute and establish, is this a complete statement? Worldly people here are not necessarily taken to be like barbarians who do not wear robes, or those born in a place of no leisure. Rather, it refers to all those who, due to the power of the two obscurations, grasp the conventional truth of the world as the two, grasper and grasped, and all that appears to them, all that speaks, thinks, and expresses based on that way, are called worldly people. Therefore, in the place of the worldly conventional truth, whether it is the world itself or the treatises, all the terminology of what was previously known and what can be known is called the terminology of the worldly conventional truth.

Lhasa's son, Shantideva, said: Here, two worlds are seen, namely, yogis and ordinary people. Among them, the ordinary world is harmed by the yogi world, and yogis are also harmed by higher-level yogis due to differences in wisdom. This is what the text says. Therefore, when the state of complete and perfect enlightenment is achieved, for other beings to be tamed, due to the power of past accumulations and aspirations, the dependent arising of the conventional truth of the body and wisdom appears, but for the Buddha himself, all the elaborations and distinctions of the conventional truth of the world will be pacified. This is the lifeblood of the excellent teachings of the Prasangikas. Also, in the writings of the great scholar Mayura, it is said: Some say that by means of a valid cognition that engages with reality, it is possible to determine the affirmation and negation of both sides. And: By means of a valid cognition that engages with an object through its own power, it realizes that very object. This is what the logicians who follow Dharmakirti say. Based on these statements, some later scholars believe that the objects such as valid cognitions, which are accepted by the Sutra and Mind-Only schools, are truly established in the ultimate truth, and that the Svatantrika-Madhyamikas also accept this and engage in debate. This explanation of the intention of the earlier teachers is incorrect. Because the Sutra and Mind-Only schools commonly accept that all phenomena that appear without error are established as the nature of Mind-Only, by their own characteristics in the ultimate truth. However, the Svatantrikas have never said that the phenomena that appear as external and internal objects are things that are truly established by their own characteristics. Because these phenomena are only considered to be conventional, false phenomena. So, the reason why the earlier teachers said that was to prevent the Svatantrikas from saying that these phenomena are established in the conventional world through conventional valid cognitions, and that it is reasonable to engage in affirmation and negation of both sides. Moreover, since the Sutra and Mind-Only schools say that valid cognitions and objects of valid cognition are truly existent, the Sutra on Valid Cognition and the Commentary on Valid Cognition necessarily arise from this. The great Bodhisattva Bodhicitta-utsaha widely refutes this in treatises such as the Extensive Ornament of Reasoning and the Light, which is also very reasonable. This is in order to refute that valid cognitions and objects of valid cognition are truly existent, so the great teacher
