Its own characteristic is: that which can become form, that which can be experienced, that which can be grasped as a sign, that which can manifestly produce, that which can become discriminating, and so on. The general characteristic is: impermanence, suffering, emptiness, selflessness, and so on. Also, its own characteristic is: blue, yellow, long, short, and so on, as well as form, sound, and so on. As it is said, in conventional truth, this person accepts the validity of the unexamined, delightful, force-entered object of conventional truth. In the Minor Commentary, it says: "Unexamined, merely delightful, is the relationship of cause and effect." For this reason. Therefore, he thinks that by accepting the interdependent and valid conventional, illusion-like object of force-entry, he eliminates the poison of grasping at objects, both internal and external. Starting from this way of speaking in the Svātantrika system, in the noble land of India, the Svātantrikas are called the Madhyamikas who speak of establishing illusion-like reasoning. Since the great Lotsāwa Stenpa was pleased with the Svātantrika side, and since the Svātantrikas do not prove that they can truly function by means of illusion-like reasoning, that Madhyamika who establishes illusion-like reasoning is not a Svātantrika. Since it is not a Prāsaṅgika, saying that it is a Madhyamika that creates bewilderment and wonder is also a transformation of words that hit one's own sore spot. Taktsang Lotsāwa, who possesses the wealth of intelligence, said: "Also, when explaining the supreme system of Nāgārjuna, Buddhapālita and Bhāviveka, because of merely Prāsaṅgika and Svātantrika proofs (85b), it is known and established among the wise as Prāsaṅgika and Svātantrika. That very thing is successively non-abiding and illusion-like reasoning, as the many authoritative ones of the noble land have said, therefore it is not appropriate to say that that distinction is creating bewilderment. " Thus it appears. Thus, the Prāsaṅgikas say to the Svātantrikas that although the force-entered phenomena of conventional objects and their validity do not exist in ultimate truth, it is not appropriate to say that there is force-entry of illusion-like objects in conventional truth. Because in conventional truth, if it is entered by the force of conventional objects and established by validity, then there must be a non-deceptive existence there. If it is non-deceptive and truly exists there, then all conventional truths will become non-false creations.

Therefore, if one asserts that things that are like illusions are established as dharmas by the power of entities, and that they are established by valid cognition, then this is also contradictory to one's own words. For if illusory horses, etc., are established by valid cognition that arises from the power of entities, then illusory horses are not illusory, but become real, inherently existent horses. Therefore, it is clear that even for those who cling to all dharmas as being true like illusions through valid cognition, there remains a slight residue of clinging to elaborations and characteristics. The excellent scholar Dapa states in the instructions for meditating on ultimate bodhicitta: Therefore, without examining, one delights in experience; the mind is like an illusion; even enlightenment is like an illusion; deceived by merely illusion. Even this does not see the Mañjuśrī who is beyond words and free from elaborations. Illusion is not merely illusion; if it were, it would not be established. If it is established, then the tenets of others would also become illusory dharmas. Therefore, the nature of illusion cannot be expressed as 'like this illusion.' Therefore, if one relies on the tenets of svatantrika, will one not realize the meaning of suchness? It is not so, because for subjects such as sprouts, one realizes the meaning of emptiness, which is the object to be proven, through being separate from one and many, etc. Even so, although those proofs are expressed in conventional terms, the difference between prasangika and svatantrika is that they consider whether they are established or not merely in conventional terms. The mind that clings to the establishment of the object to be proven and the proof in conventional terms, even in the svatantrika system, will be naturally reversed by the power of the accumulation of habituation to the Madhyamaka view later on. Therefore, when the prasangika seeks suchness in conventional truth by relying on conventional truth, they do not assert a valid cognition of refutation and establishment that arises from the power of entities in conventional terms and then perform refutation and establishment in seeking suchness. Even in mere conventionality, there are no dharmas that arise from the power of entities, nor their valid cognition. However, in order to eliminate the perverted clinging to appearances that clings to dharmas established by the power of entities and established by valid cognition in both truths, such as the conventional truth that is falsely imputed as being different from suchness by those who cling to entities, they merely follow the temporary conventionalities as they are known to the world and those who speak of scriptures, and thus eliminate this perversion.
