Yes, it is like saying that being free from epidemics is being liberated from contagious diseases. Moreover, being liberated from contagious diseases means that the contagious disease has disappeared, so being liberated from the disease does not require cultivating the disease as an entity again. If we explain it according to your reasoning, then it would become like this: the exhaustion or destruction that arises from being liberated from the disease caused by the exhaustion or destruction of the contagious disease, the exhaustion and destruction left behind by the exhaustion or destruction, must be acknowledged again as the entity of the disease. Because those exhaustions and destructions (195a) are entities. If that is the case, then there is no other entity that has squeezed in from outside the entity stream of the disease. Also, you say that the cause, like oil, is exhausted, so the result, like a lamp, is also exhausted, this cause and effect relationship is similar to the cause of not seeing fire producing the result of not seeing smoke. If you admit that, then when applying the absence of fire as a reason to prevent smoke on the night sea, it would not be an uncertain reason. Because that becomes a reason for the cause proving the result. Because on that basis, it seems that the causal relationship of the cause of not seeing fire producing the result of not having smoke is established. If you fundamentally admit it, then such a reason is not a reason for not seeing the cause. Why? Because it is a reason for the cause proving the result. Therefore, think carefully and speak appropriately. In general, there, because fire is not actually seen, the absence of smoke is produced, and because it does not rain, crops do not grow, like this, although it is not an actual cause and effect, it is also included in the category of similarity, this also appears in the logical works of Dignāga and Dharmakīrti, who speak of entities common to both Sutra and Mind teachings. In general, for whatever dharma arises, if you only focus on what does not hinder it, and if you regard such a dharma as the cause of another dharma, then it would be permissible to accept the cessation of obstruction as the operative cause of the arising of a vase, as the Vaibhāṣikas believe. Furthermore, the exhaustion of oil prevents the continuation of the lamp (195b), but the exhaustion of the lamp's continuation is not the producer. Because the non-exhaustion of the cause is the producer of the result, the exhaustion of the cause is not the producer of the result. If that is the case, then the cause, the seed's ability to produce sprouts, is exhausted.

Moreover, there would be the fault of the fruit not giving rise to sprouts. If you assert that, then the non-arising of sprouts is not non-arising, because the non-arising of sprouts has a cause for arising. Moreover, to say that the exhaustion of the cause exhausts the fruit is also, in the final analysis, the most unexamined, because all things manifestly arise without the exhaustion of the fruit in the present and future after the cause has been exhausted or passed away. It is just like the seed of a sprout being exhausted, but the sprout itself arises without being exhausted. Even so, it is not that the sprout is produced by the destruction of the seed, but that the destruction of the seed makes way for the arising of the sprout. It is most regrettable to make presumptuous judgments and definitive conclusions about the intentions of the Victorious Ones without understanding even this much. Secondly, as for the destruction of things, worldly people only roughly perceive the constant changes, but do not examine the subtle impermanence of the destruction of things. Among the authors of treatises on realism, there have been many who, among the eighteen schools of Hearers such as the Vaibhashikas, have asserted that subtle moments and impermanent things perish in the moment of their self-establishment, and others who have asserted that they do not perish. Even so, all realists agree that birth, destruction, and existence are real, and that non-birth, destruction, and non-existence are unreal. If we speak according to the common Sutra and Mind-Only schools' explanation of the destruction of things and how to establish moments, then destruction and impermanence are established in the objects of manifest awareness of the sense and mental consciousnesses, which are capable of performing functions, and in conditioned things and existence. For destruction and impermanence are not established in unconditioned non-things that are beyond the objects of manifest awareness of the sense and mental consciousnesses, and in destruction, that is, non-existence. Destruction and impermanence consume the present thing in its own time, and then make way for the appearance of the subsequent thing. Moreover, the destruction of birth does not prevent the continuation of birth, but destroys while producing birth. Although the destruction of cessation does not perish together with the function of producing subsequent birth, the nature of birth is established as the destruction and impermanence that causes cessation. Therefore, the destruction of birth is real, cessation.
