Those who claim extremes have no other way than to uphold their own system to refute other systems (170b). In this case, false "existence," etc., are considered to be true. True "non-existence," etc., are not true. Saying this would lead to admitting falsehood as truth and truth as falsehood. Speaking of the nature of truth and falsehood in this way and accepting logic does not occur in the tenets of any sect, internal or external, so it is not desirable to think so, because it is impossible. Here it is said: With an impartial mind, from a long-term perspective, through careful study, the meaning to be known can be understood. The intention of showing without error is explained here without reliance. If a person who does not possess intelligence and is poor in reasoning abandons unbearable jealousy towards the glorious ocean of the scriptures' perfections, great meaning will be attained in this life and the next. Thus it is said. The second is: Because all worldly things are not valid measures, at that time, the world is not harmed. Only when analyzing it, the world is not harmed, because when analyzing it, all worldly things are not valid measures. Just as the view of illusion does not harm the view of non-illusion. The third is: If the meaning of the world is eliminated by the consensus of the world, then the world will be harmed. So, where does the harm of the world occur? If the worldly consensus itself eliminates the meaning that is agreed upon in the world, then for that reason, the world will be harmed. For example, someone says, "My property was stolen." Another asks, "What property?" The person says, "It was a vase." Then, that person refutes, "A vase is not property, because it is measurable, like a vase in a dream." (171a) Like this, the world will be harmed, because the world considers the vase in the waking state to be real, and does not consider the vase in the dream to be real, so the example and the meaning are inconsistent, and it does not accept detailed logical analysis. When abiding in the view of the noble ones, and taking the wise as the measure, then the world is not harmed. The wise on this side

Similarly, this can be analogized to other things. For example, if someone says, "One who does not see one's own nature also does not see other things, just as the eye does not see itself." But it is well known in the world that the eye can see other things. Therefore, all statements that use worldly consensus as a measure do not harm the vision of the noble ones. The second point is: Because worldly people just plant a seed and say, "I gave birth to this child." And they think, "I also planted the tree." Therefore, things born from others do not exist even in the world. Even if subsequent statements are made in accordance with worldly views, worldly views do not harm the obstruction of other-birth, because things are born from others, it is just seen that way. Even in the world, there are no things born from others. Because worldly people, just plant a seed in the mother's womb, and later when a child with male characteristics is born, they will say, "I gave birth to this child." Just planting a mango seed, and later when it grows into a big tree, they will also think, "I planted this too." Because they do not regard the seed and the fruit as different things. Apart from that, taking one's own child out of the body and putting it into the womb, and when planting a tree, one does not plant a tree with lush branches (171b). Therefore, in the world, cause and effect will not become the same thing either. Just like the previous reason, they will say, "I gave birth to the child" and "I planted the tree." If it is not like that, but others give birth to others, there is no chance to indicate "my child" and other close things. The second point is, it elucidates the merit of dependent arising, where permanence and annihilation do not exist. It elucidates the fault that if things exist by their own nature, it will become a denial of emptiness. The first point is: Because the sprout is not other than the seed, therefore, when the sprout grows, the seed is not destroyed. Because it is not the same, therefore, when the sprout grows, it should not be said that the seed exists. Here, if the seed and the sprout become other, then, when the sprout grows, the seed will be annihilated, because they are other. Just like there is a cow, even if the bull dies, the cow will not be cut off, and there is a remainder of life, the noble one will not not enter Nirvana. Therefore, when the sprout grows, the seed is not destroyed and not annihilated, because the sprout is not other than the seed.
