Now, the basis of names such as vase, the true object, is analyzable. Moreover, negation in terms of non-existence is analyzable, but negation in terms of non-non-existence is not analyzable. Thus it is said. The teacher Tsang Nakpa said: Just as one cannot pierce the sky with an arrow, and one would not say that the sky can withstand an arrow, similarly, if one analyzes non-existence negation, it ends up being merely non-existence negation, and does not become the meaning of analyzable. Because when analyzing the affirmation of existence of the four extremes, there is nothing analyzable, and when the affirmation of existence of the four extremes disappears, it is merely called non-existence negation. At that time, the decisively determined non-existence negation, as the object of negation, cannot be analyzed by any reasoning, therefore, even when naming the basis of ultimate truth, one cannot merely establish it as non-existence negation, so ultimate truth can never be expressed. Thus he says. The teacher Phawa's view is: Although some say he is a Madhyamika who views emptiness as a characteristic. But neither the former nor the latter view is good, if one thinks that emptiness is a non-existence negation that can be analyzed, and that ultimate truth can never be expressed to those to be tamed, then the Madhyamika who prevents true establishment, and the Madhyamika who shows reality only through skillful means, will become merely nominal Madhyamikas. Here, it is said that ultimate reality is the object of the wisdom of the noble ones, and it is not contradictory that in the Sutra (154b) and other treatises it is said that ultimate reality is not the object of the mind. Because here, it is seen by wisdom in the way of not seeing anything at all, in the manner of not seeing anything. And elsewhere, it is not seen by consciousness in the way of complete cutting off, in the manner of knower and known. Here it is said: Nagarjuna, the Vajradhara, with the two truths, In the way of establishing what is done in the world, Indian and Tibetan scholars and those with fame, If the wisdom that distinguishes them as they are is not clear, Then my eye of wisdom, like the light of a firefly, Can it illuminate the mandala of knowable things? Even so, by the power of the manifestation of the holy ones, This well-spoken word, like a million suns, has arisen. Thus it is said. Second, distinguishing the differences of false appearances, and showing that they are not harmed by the world. First, distinguishing from the perspective of the subject and the object. The first is,

False appearances are also considered to be of two types: clear senses and defective senses. The consciousness of those with defective senses is considered to be inverted relative to the consciousness of those with intact senses. Having thus established the nature of the two truths, because false appearances also have two types, true and false, in order to show their objects and subjects, false appearances are also considered to be of two types: the consciousness that arises from the clear, where the six senses are not damaged by internal and external causes of confusion, and which is known in the world as grasping at true objects; and the two types of defective senses, where the six senses are tainted by causes of confusion. The consciousness of any person with defective senses is considered to be an inverted consciousness relative to the consciousness that exists perfectly, where the six senses are not tainted. (155a) Secondly, the objects are generally divided into two types, true and false, and the divisions of false objects are explained in detail. The first is: Whatever is grasped by the six senses without harm, Is understood by the world as true; The rest is regarded by the world as inverted. Just as the views of worldly people have two types, inverted and not inverted, so do objects. Whatever is to be grasped by the six senses without harm from internal and external defilements is understood by the world, and that is true in the world, because it appears in the eyes of worldly people, and they cling to it as true, and it is not deceptive in terms of conventions. But for the noble ones, that is not true, because they do not see anything in equipoise, and the appearance in the post-equipoise is said to be confused. The rest, which appears as an object of damaged senses, is established as inverted relative to the truth and falsehood of the world, because worldly people, for such objects, some have appearance but no clinging to truth, and some have clinging to truth but no appearance, therefore they are not spoken of as objects of common acceptance and rejection. That is also like those who suffer from cataracts and jaundice, and those who have eaten datura, the cause of confusion that harms the senses is inside. Sesame oil and so on, and caves and so on, and desolate places, the proximity of the sun's rays in spring, the cause of confusion of the senses is outside, those will cause internal confusion.
