The teacher, the perfectly enlightened Buddha, and the glorious protector Nāgārjuna, have well explained it. As it is said: The Dharma taught by the Buddhas relies entirely on the two truths. Moreover, especially the truth of ultimate truth, even if it is not established as a proliferation of truth in the two truths, if this establishment is not made, then the profound suchness cannot be understood. In short, son of lineage, if the ultimate did not exist, then the practice of Brahman would become meaningless, and the appearance of the Tathagatas would also become meaningless (153b). Because the ultimate exists, therefore the Bodhisattvas are skilled in the ultimate. Thus it is said. Such two truths are not spoken in this way after establishing a basis in meaning in the view of the noble ones, but in order for worldly people to understand suchness, in accordance with the worldly terms of truth and falsehood, etc., the Bhagavan makes the establishment of the two truths in their presence, which is not established by the Madhyamaka own system. As it is said: The world argues with me, but I do not argue with the world, whatever the world considers to exist, I also consider to exist. Whatever the world considers not to exist, I also consider not to exist. Thus it was declared. Therefore, the profound emptiness that is non-conceptual, which has become the object of the wisdom of the ultimate noble ones, is devoid of both analyzable and unanalyzable. There, although it is devoid of speech, the profound emptiness that is conceptual, which has become the object of the valid cognition of the worldly people, although nothing is analyzable, the Madhyamikas name and speak of the meaning of suchness with a nameless name, so that the ultimate truth cannot be completely expressed in terms of convention. Such a profound key point, extremely subtle, how can it be understood by the coarse wisdom of wrong conceptions that appeared later in this land of snow (referring to Tibet)? It is said that even the chief of eloquence in the land of snow, such as Phya pa and Gtsang nag pa, did not give rise to an unerring conviction in this meaning, and that is why they spoke in this way. The lord of reasoning, the venerable Phya pa, said: The self-nature of the ultimate truth cannot be analyzed by reason.
