Thus, having refuted the tenets of other-origination and other-becoming in a following manner, now it will be shown that cause and effect are impossible elsewhere. Here, some realistic logicians do not want cause and effect to be simultaneous, because if the two are simultaneous, there is no need or function whatsoever. If the effect is not established, the cause is not established either; if the cause is established, the effect is already established, so they do not become mutual producers and produced. In this system, cause and effect are impossible elsewhere, even if Maitreya and Near-Hidden are mutually dependent and merely established as other, but like this, different-entity cause and effect will not be established. Sprout and seed are not simultaneously present, because without the seed transforming, there is no sprout. When the seed is that time, there is no other sprout, how can the seed become other than the sprout? Because there is no that in him and other. Therefore, it is impossible for the sprout to arise from the other entity of the seed, so the view that things arise from other entities should be abandoned. Therefore, the nature of things is not in conditions, etc. If my thing does not exist, how can there be other things? The word "etc." in conditions, etc. is the seventh case locative, that is, the individual causes and conditions or collections of conditions, such as the potter's wheel, etc., the nature of things is not in other places, if things have not transformed into the nature of things, then they do not exist in the nature of things. If it is not like this, things have not arisen, how can they exist in conditions, etc.? Any thing that does not exist at any time and place is not produced from the existence of conditions, etc., like extracting oil from sand. If it does not exist, it can also arise from those conditions, then it can also arise from non-conditions, why can't it arise? So it is said. If it is thought that the nature of things that has been transformed into the nature of things is mutually different in cause and condition, then the view that cause and effect are not simultaneous should also be abandoned. Second, the example of fault avoidance and its refutation. First, just like the two ends of a scale, high and low, do not appear simultaneously, but can be seen.

Du. If the arising of what is to be produced and the arising of what produces are simultaneous in their arising and ceasing, then? Furthermore, it is unreasonable to say that seeds and sprouts do not exist simultaneously. This is because the arising of what is to be produced—the effect—and the arising of what produces—the cause—occur simultaneously. For when the seed ceases, the sprout arises. Therefore, the simultaneous existence of seed and sprout is established differently. Just as the two ends of a scale, one high and one low, are not seen as occurring simultaneously. Similarly, this should also be understood here. Secondly, the reasons for the dissimilarity between the example and the meaning, and the refutation of that answer. First, the statement and the explanation. The first is: If it is said to be one time, then there is no one time here, and that is also not right. If the example of the scale is used to understand that the arising and ceasing of cause and effect are simultaneous, it is unreasonable. Because the two are dissimilar. The example is that the high and low of the scale occur at the same time, but here the arising and ceasing of cause and effect do not occur at the same time, so it is not right to use that example to illustrate that meaning (135a). It is not good to answer in this way. The second is: If what is arising is said to be directed towards arising, so it does not exist; and what is ceasing exists, but is also considered to be directed towards ceasing. Then, how can this be the same as the scale? The meaning is that the arising and ceasing of cause and effect do not exist simultaneously, that is, they do not exist at the same time. If the sprout is said to be arising, it is the future directed towards arising, so it does not exist. The seed is ceasing, it is the present, although it exists, it is also considered to be directed towards ceasing. Because it has not become the effect, it has not arisen, so it does not exist now. The cause exists itself, and it is ceasing now, it is not directed towards arising, so it does not exist. In that case, how can the simultaneous arising and ceasing of cause and effect be the same as the high and low of the scale? Because they are dissimilar. The cause of pulling the weight is the past, and the result is that the high and low of the scale occur simultaneously, which is one time in the present. However, the action of the arising and ceasing of cause and effect cannot occur simultaneously in the present. The second is: This arising has no agent and is not the nature of reason. Even if the qualities of seed and sprout are not simultaneous,
