Furthermore, other-origination should not occur. The Samkhya, Vaibhashika, and some people of the Land of Snows (Tibet) believe that the effect exists and then arises; the Vaisheshika, Sautrantika, and Yogachara schools believe that the effect does not exist and then arises; the Nirgrantha and others believe that the effect both exists and does not exist and then arises. In this way, an existing effect should not arise, because if it already exists, what need is there for a producer? Because something that has already arisen should not arise again. A non-existent effect should not arise, because if the effect to be produced does not exist, then what can the producer do? Like a donkey's horn, because it is not an object of action. The Hundred Treatises says, "Whoever believes that the effect exists, whoever believes that the effect does not exist, for the sake of the house, pillars, etc., the meaning of decoration will also not exist." The Middle Way Treatise also says, "If the nature of the effect exists, what can the cause produce? If the nature of the effect does not exist, what can the cause produce? If existence exists, the cause itself is not reasonable. If the cause itself is reasonably non-existent, whose effect will it be?" Thus it is declared. The effect to be produced, both existing and non-existing, is not reasonable in itself, if so, what can the condition do? Because it will fall into both faults. The nature of existence and non-existence cannot exist simultaneously in one thing, therefore, a thing with both existence and non-existence is impossible, because it is not the object of the condition's action. The scriptures say, "How can Nirvana be both a thing and a non-thing?" It also says, "Becoming an agent and a non-agent, having become and not having become, that is inaction. Being and not being exist simultaneously, how can they contradict each other?" Thus it is declared. The effect of being free from the two to be produced should not arise, for the effect of being free from the two, what can the condition do? Because the effect that abandons both existence and non-existence does not exist. If the existence and non-existence to be negated do not exist, then negating them both is impossible. The scriptures say, "Neither a thing nor a non-thing, who proclaims Nirvana, if the non-thing and the thing are established, then it is established." Thus it is declared. These treatises not only explain that from the perspective of other-origination, the result of arising from the four extremes is unreasonable, but also explain self-origination, both-origination, causeless-origination, nature, and Ishvara, etc.

Furthermore, regarding the assertion that things arise from "nothingness," none of the four extremes of consequences are acceptable. As for dependent arising, it has also been shown to be free from the four extremes of elaboration. The second part includes: the previous position and its refutation. The first part is: Since some people abide in their own views and consider the world to be the standard of measurement, what is the use of merely stating arguments here? The worldlings can also understand that other arises from other, therefore, other arising exists, what argument is needed here? Those arguments that I have stated to prove other arising, like firewood soaked in oil, have been completely burned by the fire of your wisdom. Therefore, there is no need to kindle the firewood of reasoning that serves to ignite the fire of your wisdom, it is enough. Therefore, even if it is not proven by reasoning, there are cases where one's own wishes are fulfilled, because the facts established in the world cannot be harmed by reasoning, because the (137b) seeing of the world is extremely powerful. The "worldlings" mentioned here refer to those who do not follow caste or non-caste, but abide in their own seeing, that is, views, and thus engage in acceptance and rejection of objects. Having done this, merely by obtaining the result, they consider the direct perception of the world to be the standard of measurement. Therefore, what is the use of stating the view that conforms to other arising here, merely by stating those arguments used to prove it? There is no need to do so. Because from other causes arise other effects, the direct perception of the world can understand. Therefore, it can be established that other arising exists without having to prove it through reasoning, so what else needs to be proven here? There is no need for reasoning, because reasoning is suitable for things that are not directly perceived, and not suitable for direct perception. If you say so, then the second part includes: even if other arising is established, it will not cause harm when practicing that suchness, and other arising is not established for the worldlings either. The first part includes: incidental explanation of the classification of the two truths, and the main explanation that the world will not cause harm. The first part includes: generally explaining the difference between the two truths, and explaining in detail their respective natures. The first part includes: explaining the difference between the real and the incidental false seeing. The first part is: all real and false seeing will grasp the attainment and nature of the real. That object of true seeing
