Therefore, it is not established that it is seen to arise from other things. If seen, does it arise from a seed after it has decayed or before it has decayed? If it arises before decaying, then it will become permanent; if it arises after decaying, then it will become annihilation. Suppose the root sign is established, that alone does not pervade the fact that cause and effect are distinct and infallible other entities. Because: 'Arising and ceasing, if you think you see them, arising and ceasing, are seen by the sleep of delusion.' Because it says so. One should not grasp the generalities of others, because 'grasping the particular' does not contradict grasping the particular. Because if the generality of the pervader is blocked, then the other particulars of its pervaded object will also not be established. Therefore, the seed of rice is also not the producer of that rice sprout, nor is it capable, nor does it belong to the same lineage, nor is it of a different kind, because it is other than the rice sprout. Just as barley, lotus stamens, and kingśuka flowers, etc., are not considered to produce rice sprouts, because they are not capable of producing rice sprouts, do not belong to the same lineage, and are not of the same kind, because they are other, the reason is just like that. Here, the teacher Phya-pa says: If a realist thinks that a cause produces an effect, it is produced from a cause other than the effect, and if it arises from another, then he has not accepted the pervasiveness of cause and effect, therefore, the teacher Chandrakirti's statement that thick darkness will also arise from flames is not a real fault. This is merely a random statement by a consequentialist (Prāsaṅgika) who has not understood the key point of the reasoning for refuting the famous views of others. The Prāsaṅgika refutes by saying that if a cause produces an effect, you admit that it is produced by a cause other than the effect, then if another cause produces another effect, then any effect of a thing will be produced by all causes other than it, whether you are willing to admit this conclusion or not, if it is reasonable to admit the previous pervasiveness, then based on the equality of the same reason, it is actually established for you realists, therefore it can be inferred that thick darkness arises from flames, because it is other.

That's what is said. But for the consequentialists, their own school has never accepted such a prior and subsequent pervasion of realists anywhere. In this way, it is also established that the master Chandrakirti has no harm in speaking of the faults of realists at this time. Therefore, no matter how much the consequentialist Madhyamikas roar the great sound of the fearless lion, the worms of conceptualization will not hear it at all. This is not the fault of the Madhyamikas, but the fault of the conceptualizers themselves for having little merit. In this context of speaking of Madhyamika, the only thing to be refuted is the other-origination that is true in both ways. Some Tibetans say that the Madhyamikas refute the other-origination that is truly established from the object's own side. If the Madhyamikas also follow the birth established by conventional measure, then it is not appropriate to accept the three births of self-origination, etc., because in that case, there is no choice but to accept other-origination. To say this is unreasonable, it seems that someone with a poisonous mind has spoken in disguise. Like this, speaking in disguise (133a) to say that, on the surface, one follows the measure of conventionality to accept other-origination, but does not accept other births. But from the tone of that sentence, it seems that one is saying that from the point of view of reason, one does not accept other-origination. Saying it like this, in fact, one wants to accept other-origination from the point of view of reason, so that's why one says it like that. Because the measure of convention cannot establish the other three births, but it is said that reason can establish other-origination, so saying that sentence itself is to speak of other-origination after analyzing it with reason. If one does not say that sentence after analyzing it with reason, then the measure of convention cannot deny the other three births, nor can it establish the distinction of other-origination. Therefore, you people are actually trying to hide the fact that you accept birth in reason, so you use disguised language to say that, from the point of view of conventional measure, if there is birth in convention, then it must be from others, etc. This statement is not the ultimate intention of the Madhyamika of the glorious protector Nagarjuna and his son, because in the analytical perspective of where a sprout like that comes from, accepting that the sprout does not arise is the intention of the protector Nagarjuna. Moreover, it contradicts "There is no other-origination in the world," because the other-origination established by conventional measure exists in the Madhyamika school. In short, in the Madhyamika school, accepting other-origination,

Birth from the past, birth from a class, and birth established by its own nature, cause and effect being different entities, and not depending on each other, the agent and action being different, cause and effect being simultaneous, and both cause and effect becoming without cause, etc., faults (133b) It is necessary to admit that there are endless faults, so isn't it strange that there are Madhyamaka-Prasaṅgikas who speak contrary to the good tradition of Nāgārjuna and his sons and disciples? If the Svātantrikas say that in conventional truth, birth from another is commonly taught by the Blessed One to his own school and others, so it must be admitted, that is not right either. That which arises depending on what, that is not exactly that itself for a while. Since it is also not different from that, therefore it is neither annihilation nor permanence. And, if the cause and effect are different, then the cause and non-cause would be the same. If fire is different from wood, then it should also arise without wood. And so on. And, annihilation and actions are wasted, and the actions done by others are experienced separately by others, and so on, would be consequences. And so on, the endless faults spoken by the teacher for those who consider cause and effect as different entities apply to the Svātantrikas. However, reasoning analysis does not apply to terminology, because it is pleasant only without examination? If so, then it is also meaningless for conventional truth to conform to the proponents of tenets, so it is also meaningless to admit other-birth in conventional terminology. If the Madhyamikas say that, like worldly terminology, it is pleasant only without examination, then without considering whether the birth of self and other is reasonable or not, they only say that birth is refuted. Just by speaking and thinking, taking and abandoning, that alone accomplishes what is needed, so since that is enough, why look for something else? (134a) Secondly, since otherness is impossible before and after, other-birth is unreasonable, and since birth is impossible at the same time, other-birth is unreasonable. First, the actual text and refuting the example of rejecting faults. First, the sprout and the seed are not simultaneous. Without otherness, how can it become another seed? Therefore, the sprout does not arise from the seed, so abandon the position that it is born from another.
