For things that can function, the internal sense bases, such as the eye, etc., even conventional objects are not established as that thing. Because it is the object of inverted and mistaken consciousness and is thus prevented, conventional phenomena are empty of their own nature of being able to function. Therefore, the aspect of being established as a thing that can function is not established by any nominal or rational valid cognition (120a). Moreover, the reason why other-renowned valid cognition exists is that in the conventional, it is possible for conventional things to be established as things that can function, and this only serves to harm. Such a clear and unclear doctrine, like the sun and moon, the rays of the activity of the undiminished, bright, harmonious, and clear exist. For the Consequentialist's system, one and many are separate. Like a sprout based on the basis of the part of the subject, the nominal valid cognition establishes that the sprout itself functions in its own activity, so the object to be refuted by the rational valid cognition is not that which is truly established. Therefore, the refutation of the object to be refuted is truly established, which depends on a certain profound and secret oral transmission instruction. The wisdom that speaks like this is like the eyes of a young owl that cannot bear to look at the great light of the Venerable Chandrakirti. Therefore, take on the great burden of accumulating the two accumulations, and quickly, quickly enter into the flawless Madhyamaka teachings of the glorious Chandrakirti! If in the conventional, conventional phenomena cannot be established as things that can function, then in the conventional, for conventional things that can function, the appearance and experience known as conventional valid cognition, and the acceptance and rejection based on it, etc., cannot be nominally made. If you say so, then this is the supreme contradiction. If in the conventional, things that can function are established as self-existent, then in the conventional, the appearance and experience known as conventional valid cognition, and the acceptance and rejection based on it, etc., cannot be nominally made, because in the conventional, things that can function (120b) are not established as self-existent, therefore, although not truly existent, in the conventional, dependent, imputed, and completely imputed things that can function appear, and based on that appearance, they enter into the nominal terms of acceptance and rejection, etc. For those who use nominal terms, this seems undeniable.

Relying solely on that appearance, the way to accomplish nirvana that does not abide in either existence or peace is most clearly and easily explained in the treatises of the great scholars Āryadeva and Candrakīrti. However, those with distorted views who have weak accumulations and purification, denigrate the establishment of conventional truth in the Prāsaṅgika Madhyamaka, and in particular, those great Prāsaṅgika Madhyamakas of early Tibet, saying that they are those with distorted views who denigrate the establishment of karma and its effects, such statements have appeared before and after. All of these people are seen as those who commit sins against the unerring Madhyamaka teachings and their holders, so these people should be abandoned far away like a cliff that attacks life. Just as within the realists, the common nature of sound is taken as an example, when Madhyamikas and realists debate, the dharma that is commonly accepted as existing in things is not established. In the debate within the realists, they want to express the universal of sound and the universal of impermanence itself, and they do not want to express sound distinguished by permanence and impermanence, because it is established as a common appearance in the minds of both the proponent and the opponent. Similarly, if it is possible to establish grasping only the universal of the object of the eye, which is not distinguished by the two truths (121a), even if it is established in this way, the Madhyamikas who proclaim emptiness and the realists who proclaim non-emptiness will not concede that such a thing is commonly established even in the conventional. Even in the conventional, if the conventional eye, etc., the conventional object, is not established by valid cognition, then in the ultimate, the object of the ultimate eye is also not established by valid cognition. Therefore, the example of the debate within the realists, and the example of the debate between the Madhyamikas and the realists, are not the same because there is and is not an acceptance of common appearance. Therefore, the way of pointing out the fault of the unestablished basis should also be applied to pointing out the fault of the unestablished to the reason "because it exists", that is, the existence of the eye, etc., in the ultimate is not established for itself; existence in the conventional is not established for others. Dharmakīrti says here that the conventional eye is conventional
