So, where would the master Buddhapālita, who follows the non-inverted tenets of master Nāgārjuna, which allows others who assert reality to find fault, utter words with flaws? Furthermore, if one thinks that since the one who states consequences is a Madhyamika, there is a fault related to reversal, then when a Madhyamika who asserts no self-nature establishes consequences for those who assert things with self-nature, how could the Madhyamika who states consequences also turn into something with the opposite meaning of consequences? Because it is not said with the intention of abandoning the opposite. Its pervasion is that the sounds of the words that state consequences are not like someone with a lasso involuntarily entangling something, making the speaker not independent. As it is said, "Sound follows the intention of expression." Therefore, if it is speech that has the power to show meaning, then it follows the speaker's intention to express. For that reason, the act of stating contradictions in establishing consequences only has the result of preventing the other party's commitment, so the Madhyamika who states consequences does not have the possibility of turning into the opposite meaning of consequences. Sixth, just as Buddhapālita refutes the other side with mere consequences, so did master Nāgārjuna. For example: "Before the characteristic of space, there is no space at all. If it precedes the characteristic, then it would follow that there is no characteristic." Similarly, "If the cause of form is not separate, then form in form is without cause. It would follow that there is no cause, and there is nothing without a cause." And similarly, "Nirvana is not a thing, then the characteristic of aging and death would follow. That which is without aging and death is not without a thing." And so on, mostly he refutes the other's position only through the method of establishing consequences. The term "mostly" means that in some cases, for the sake of refuting an undesired consequence, he makes it the object to be proven, and then, from his own accepted position (113b), he also refutes by stating the pervasion. For example: "The Blessed One said that whatever dharma is deceptive is called false. All conditioned things are deceptive dharmas, therefore they are false."

In the commentary called "Clear Words," it says: All conditioned phenomena are deceptive, therefore, these conditioned phenomena are false because they are deceptive. What is meant by deceptive is that which deludes and appears as an inverted phenomenon, like a wheel of firebrands. Because its own nature is not like that, all conditioned phenomena are false, because they are deceptive, like water in a mirage. Whatever is true is not deceptive, for example, Nirvana. Therefore, from these teachings' reasoning and scriptures, it is proven that things have no inherent existence. As it is said in the Prajnaparamita, "All dharmas are empty, existing in the manner of having no inherent existence." And so on, many instances appear, so contemplate this meaning well. Some Tibetans, as Prasangikas, believe that things have inherent existence, and in order to refute this view, they present refutations, and like that, they establish statements of proof, but establishing statements of proof to prove no inherent existence is absolutely not permissible. If that were the case, the Prasangikas would become Svatantrikas. To say that those who speak in this way, if there are things that depend on themselves, then it is equivalent to speaking irrelevantly, so one must discern this. Lekden thinks that in the commentary on the sixth chapter, "Lamp of Wisdom," it is written: If the words of Master Nagarjuna actually show refutation, but because they are words of meaning (114a), because it is a very important meaning, it naturally becomes the cause of many Svatantrika arguments. It is written like this. If one thinks that, then why not think that the words of Master Buddhapalita are also many arguments of refutation and establishment? Or, even if there is no establishment of arguments etc. at the root, but expanding the statement of argument, is this not the tradition of the commentators? If one asks this, that is also not certain, because Master Nagarjuna, who wrote the commentary on the "Vigrahavyavartani," also did not speak the statement of Svatantrika argument. The words of the omniscient Yizang Tsemé say: When Buddhapalita refuted the arising of self, he did not directly make a Svatantrika argument, so it is a place of reproach, Lekden said this. To this, Chandrakirti said that Buddhapalita did not directly say, but
