In summary, there are five-membered syllogisms, and two-membered syllogisms made with the principle of having certainty. The first is: thesis, reason, example, application, and conclusion. These five members (110a) are established in sequence, without anything to be eliminated, wanting to establish, as established as a reason, existing on the subject of debate, possessing the qualities of knowable and knower, and the two that clarify the argument and the thesis, which are the five members. The second is: the members of pervasion and presence in the similar class. As it is said: presence in the similar class is pervasion. And so on. Realists establish the words of proof established by valid cognition in their own tenets. Here, for the sake of debate, one does not establish words that have already been established in one's own tenets, but rather, in order to generate inference that is accepted by others, one refutes the tenets of others with the reasons and examples of others, which are the words that can establish. The reason for establishing the five-membered words here is that they were very popular among early logicians, so it is in this regard. It is said that early and later logicians refer to the reasoning that prevailed during the time of the brothers Asanga and Vasubandhu as early, and the reasoning that was thoroughly analyzed by Dignāga and Dharmakīrti as later, according to the great translator. Thus, by applying the reasoning that is considered valid in the world, it clarifies the non-origination of self, which is not contradictory to refuting origination from self. Because it exists as its own nature, that is, with the reason that the Samkhyas themselves admit, it states the contradiction to the Samkhyas with their own perception. Therefore, the application of Āryadeva's syllogism is not reasonable, because the reason and example are not stated, and what would happen if they were stated? The teacher (110b) Āryadeva not only did not state the reason and example, but also did not eliminate the faults stated by other Samkhyas. How to eliminate the faults? The Samkhyas do not admit that the pot in front of them is of a manifest nature, and the manifest pot itself is established here as the nature of the example possessing both the reason and the property, so it is not contradictory, the manifest pot

That which is capable of generating it, having become the nature of the cause, and existing in the nature of a pot that is not of a manifest nature, which is distinguished by preventing rebirth on the special support, the golden pot, is precisely what needs to be proven because it has not yet been established for the previous opponent. Where would there be a doubt of the fault of proving what is already established, or of the meaning of contradictory reasons? Because it exists in the similar example, there is no fault of contradiction. Since the commitment of refutation has been canceled, there is no fault of proving what is already established. Because there is no fault of contradiction and proving what is already established, when the opponent himself makes a commitment and then states a contradictory commitment through inference, the faults of the reason and the fault of the subject, as previously stated, do not exist for Buddhapālita. The fault of not eliminating the faults stated by other Sāṃkhyas does not exist. Therefore, these criticisms of Buddhapālita by Bhāviveka are irrelevant because they do not understand the thought of the great scholar Buddhapālita, it should be known. Here, by the words such as "pot" (111a) and "no self-origination," it is not that blankets and the like become uncertain because they originate from self, because it is intended to include all phenomena that are intended to arise as originating from no self. Therefore, the reason for preventing self-origination is not contradictory, uncertain, or unestablished. Alternatively, from the previously stated syllogism, this syllogism is another way, that is, the Sāṃkhyas say that knowable things are determined to be twenty-five, and then they consider these to be four
