That which is called "that" is the dharma to be established. That which is called "because it has its own nature" is the reason. That which is called "like a person" is an example, and having knowledge spoken by a person and one who is complete is a synonym of name, therefore, it should be exemplified by the example of a combined statement that refutes others. There are only two types of knowable things, those with matter and those without matter, and all things with matter become dharmas. By using a person as an example, it is said with the thought that there is no uncertain sign (111b). If someone also thinks that blocking birth does not harm those who speak of birth like a pot with a manifest result. However, for the cause that is not manifest, the thought that it arises clearly from itself cannot be blocked. Even so, blocking this birth that is already manifest as a result does not fail to harm the idea that it arises from a cause that is not manifest, because for a pot with a manifest result, the sound of no birth is re-established, because what was previously unclear or unobserved and later observed are consistent in dharma, therefore, it blocks the statement of manifestness itself with the sound of birth. Similarly, the idea that what is not manifest, exists in the causal state, and later arises clearly from itself in the resultant state has also been blocked. This way of combining the explanatory words is also a synonym. If someone also thinks that blocking birth does not harm those who speak of manifest birth, even so, the sound of birth is established on the manifest pot, and it is said that it does not arise from itself, because the reason for establishing it is that what was previously unobserved and later observed are consistent in dharma, therefore, the manifest pot, etc., itself is stated with the sound of birth, because blocking this birth of the manifest pot does not fail to harm the manifest self-birth of all things. This synonym also comes from early old commentaries and explanations, and in some old documents (112a) it is written: The meaning is, if one wants to make something manifest, does one make something that is already manifest manifest, or does one make something that is not manifest manifest? If it is the former, then it is meaningless, and if it is the latter, then the vow of self-manifestation will be broken. Also, the teacher Sangye Gyang uses the real consequence of contradictory words and the statement of establishment.

If someone asks you, Chandrakirti: As you said, in the five-membered syllogism, there is a lack of statements that express meaning, how did you establish this system of syllogism? Answer: I will explain. The arguments of Buddhapālita and others are statements that rely on meaning. These statements are concise and profound. Therefore, condensing the meaning of the arguments and so on spoken by Buddhapālita into words and sentences is to express the meaning more broadly. The faults in the syllogisms of the former teacher Buddhapālita, if explained in terms of meaning, are to express the meaning of his syllogisms and so on in language. Therefore, in the debate with the Samkhya school, it is impossible for Buddhapālita not to show the syllogisms and so on in order to refute the opponent. At this time, the works of the omniscient Yeshe Tsultrim say: Here, Buddhapālita's inference is not an inference that takes the unreal as real, while Shantarakshita's statement there is an inference that takes the unreal as real. This difference is unreasonable. Because they both say that the expressions of these two inferences are consistent. If someone doubts that this difference is reasonable. Because Shantarakshita explicitly stated in his commentary that this is an inference that takes the unreal as real. (112b) Although Buddhapālita's commentary does not explicitly state it, from the implication of the meaning, what he expresses is not an inference that takes the unreal as real. Although someone answers in this way, if I examine this doubt and answer, I find that no matter how I think about it, I cannot eliminate this doubt, so I have to make this weak answer and show it to others. Fifth, the meaning of preventing faults is only for the opponent Samkhya school, not for us Madhyamikas. Because we ourselves have not committed to any of the four views, nor have we established any reasons and pervasions that can prove these views with our own valid cognition. Therefore, how can we have a situation that contradicts the established tenets? Because this situation exists, by proving the prevention of meaningless birth, the opponent will have many faults that contradict the commitment, and the more we hope for this. Therefore, from Buddhapālita's argument,
