I must have (arguments) that are free from the faults of examples. Because, for the reason of not stating the example of the established sign of one's own system, and because of not removing the fault of the proposition, namely the thorn. Moreover, if it is thought that after stating what is accepted as valid by others, not setting forth the example of the sign that refutes others, and the fault of not removing the thorn or fault of the proposition, will become that very fault itself. Then, as a response to that, it should be said that not setting forth the example of the sign established by one's own system, and the fault of not removing the fault of the proposition, and relying on the power of the fame of others, (108a) and thus stating the fault of fault, is not so. Why is that? Because, for the sake of establishing self-origination, the meaning of self-origination that the Samkhyas have promised, just as the Samkhyas themselves have determined, they also want to generate certainty in others such as the Madhyamikas, so this meaning is reasonable. The reasonableness of understanding through which establishment, that is, that very establishment, must be stated to others in order for that which is to be established to be understood. Because it must be stated, therefore, when establishing the meaning of the self-origination proposition that the Samkhyas themselves have promised, this which is to be placed near by only the opponent Samkhyas, if for the time being it is the custom of those who speak of tenets, then, as it is said: The subsequent inference for the sake of others' meaning, makes one's own seen meaning very clear. Because it appears thus. Therefore, in the case where the Samkhyas themselves do not have a valid means of establishment, because it exists in the Madhyamikas who do not want to have origination, it is necessary to eliminate the fault of being too pervasive of the refutation of stating the example of the sign of the fame of others, "because it does not originate from itself." This, for other Madhyamikas, is also not the correct reasoning for the Samkhyas to establish self-origination. Or, in order to establish self-origination, because it is necessary to originate only from what exists, since it does not originate from causes that are determined separately or from what is non-existent. This, for other schools such as the Madhyamikas, is also not a reason, this is also one way of saying it. Because there is no example of originating as one's own nature from one's own nature that exists, therefore, when establishing the meaning that the Samkhyas themselves have promised, (108b) it is merely following the pervasion and the property of the subject that the Samkhyas themselves have promised, and placing it near.
