Searching for the imputed meaning of terms, and relying on what appears to be mutually agreed upon by both the proponent and opponent to argue and refute, is the system of the Svatantrika. Searching for the imputed meaning of the three aspects of reason, property, and example, and even if they are not established by valid cognition, relying on the fact that the three aspects of reason, property, and example are established as mutually agreed upon by both the proponent and opponent through conventional valid cognition to argue and refute, is the system of the Prasangika. This seems to be the explanation. These two brothers are also unanimously considered to be upholders of the doctrine who have realized the intention of the glorious Tsongkhapa. However, even so, if the meaning of Svatantrika and Prasangika is explained in this way, then the great teachers of Svatantrika and Prasangika would not even dream of holding such a view, yet to say that they hold such a view is simply fabricating facts. The great teachers of the Prasangika do not consider the three aspects of reason, property, and example, which are mutually agreed upon by both the proponent and opponent, to be established by valid cognition in both truths (95a). This is because the valid cognition of discriminating wisdom that measures the ultimate truth, and the valid cognition of the noble meditative wisdom, do not establish them. The Prasangika say that the valid cognition that measures the conventional is not established as valid cognition in both truths. The first reason is established, because if it were established by valid cognition, then the three aspects of reason, property, and example would become ultimately true. You have already accepted the pervasion of the reason, and you cannot deny it. The second reason is established, because the Prasangika speak of dependent phenomena, such as the three aspects of reason, property, and example, and other conventional phenomena of the world, in the face of the world, even though they do not want to, but you say that those conventional phenomena are established as functional by conventional valid cognition, which is not only not accepted in the ultimate truth, but also not accepted in the conventional truth. As it is said: "As you accept other-powered things, I do not accept the conventional. Although these do not exist for the sake of results, I say they exist in the world." Just as you abide in your own nature and use your own system to comprehend the nature of others' power, saying that it is something that can be comprehended by the wisdom of the noble ones, I do not consider that to be the conventional truth. What is it then? Even though it does not exist, it is only known in the world, and I say that it exists, which is only said from the perspective of the world. What is said after that is that

Because it is a means of refutation. As it is said: The Bhagavan said: The world disputes with me, but I do not dispute with the world. Whatever the world (95b) considers to exist, I also consider to exist. Whatever the world considers not to exist, I also consider not to exist. Therefore, the Prasangikas and the Realists cannot possibly accept that mundane worldly phenomena are established as appearing alike by nominal valid cognition. This is because the Prasangikas have never established the nature of mundane worldly phenomena as existing in their own right. If that is not established, how can the distinctions of real phenomena, namely the three aspects of sign, property, and meaning, be established by nominal valid cognition? Therefore, when the Teacher said that in his own system, the reality of mundane worldly phenomena is prevented from being established by any valid cognition, whether nominal discriminating wisdom or the self-aware wisdom of the noble ones, the world was frightened and argued with the Bhagavan. The Bhagavan said: I have realized the nature of that in both truths as it is, and therefore I speak in this way. You have not realized the nature of that in both truths, but have perversely believed, and rely on the terms of existence and non-existence to accept and reject, and I also follow that and speak accordingly. Therefore, these mundane worldly phenomena are not said to be established in the Prasangika's own system by mundane nominal valid cognition, because it is said that just as in the mundane, in the state of nirvana without remainder, the aggregates are not established even by nominal valid cognition. As it is said: Just as having abandoned the aggregates, one enters into peace, it is not the case that it exists for the Arhats; if it does not exist in the world either, then these are such that I (96a) do not say they are superior to the world. Just as when the Arhats abandon the aggregates without remainder and enter into the realm of nirvana, all their own nature is not mundane existence, so if it does not become existence in the world either, then just like the aggregates of the Arhats, these exist, and I do not speak in relation to the world either. Therefore, I only acknowledge the mundane through the door of dependence on others, but not independently. Thus it is said. Again, the Prasangika
