This is the end. This is the basis of the path to liberation and can also serve as an antidote to obscurations. The obscurations of afflictions and the obscurations of knowledge arise from attachment to the appearance of things. When a yogi realizes that all phenomena are from the beginning free from all elaboration, then all attachment to the appearance of things is eliminated. Therefore, conventionally, this emptiness, in which all phenomena are empty of their own nature, is the emptiness in which all knowable things are naturally abiding. It is the antidote to all obscurations, the sun that dispels the darkness of inverted views, the supreme medicine that eliminates the poisonous snake of grasping at reality, the essence of all the Buddha's teachings, the one path traveled by all noble beings, and the inexhaustible body, speech, mind, qualities, and activities of all the Sugatas (329a). It is the supreme cause for fully possessing the five wheels of adornment. Therefore, those who sincerely desire liberation and omniscience should engage in this with great effort through hearing, thinking, and meditating. However, those who are attached to this profound meaning in a perverse way and slander it are the great Jonang Dolpopa. He believes that the Madhyamaka system accepted by Chandrakirti is an inferior system, because the Bhagavan prophesied in the future and forbade it, saying, "The analysis of aggregates and so on is empty, like a water tree without essence." Also, because he believes that this system is the Dharma of the time of strife, and the Madhyamaka that he accepts is the supreme Dharma of the perfect age, the system of the Rigden Shambhala. This system believes that among the phenomena that can and cannot be made dependent, the ultimate truth is the phenomenon that cannot be made dependent. Therefore, it is not dependent on any conventionally self-empty phenomenon, but is a free and independent phenomenon. In the unconditioned Dharma nature ultimate truth, there are also two truths, Dharma and Dharma nature, samsara and nirvana, existence and non-existence, truth and falsehood, emptiness and non-emptiness, and both faults and virtues. In the conventionally true phenomena that can be made dependent, there are also two such things. Other-empty phenomena are true as they appear to the mind, but all self-empty phenomena are not true as they appear to the mind. Therefore, conventional phenomena are contradictory and faulty phenomena, so there is no contradiction in establishing truth and falsehood separately.

It needs to be distinguished. The ultimate dharma is without contradiction or fault, because all contradictions of truth and falsehood (329b) are abandoned in the ultimate, so there is no distinction, it is equal and of one taste. Therefore, saying that all dharmas are equal does not mean that all self-empty and other-empty dharmas are equal, but that the characteristics and nature of dharmas that exist in each of the two truths are said to be equal. The ultimate truth is permanent, so it eliminates the extreme of nihilism; the conventional truth is impermanent, so it eliminates the extreme of eternalism, and this way of abandoning the extremes of permanence and nihilism is like an eagle cutting through the sky and looking down, while other examinations are like the flight of a butterfly. This system not only contradicts all the scriptures of the Tathagata and the reasoning of the four philosophical schools, but also contradicts all of its own tenets. The existence of a dharma-nature without a dharma-possessor is not reasonable even for the Madhyamikas, because both the dharma-possessor and the dharma-nature are free from elaborations such as existence and non-existence. It is also unreasonable to assert existence, because both exist. It is also unreasonable in your own system, because all of the ultimate dharma-possessor, dharma-nature, samsara and nirvana, faults and virtues, etc., exist, while all of the conventional do not exist. It seems that you have not understood the meaning of the emptiness of the analysis of the aggregates, like a tree in the water without essence. If that scripture prevents the determination of the aggregates and other dharmas as empty by reasoning, then in the three sections of the Heart Sutra commentary and other infinite tantras, all the determinations of emptiness by reasoning that determine emptiness will become meaningless. Or, if it is thought that in the sutras and the commentaries of the Bodhisattvas, that is, in all the tantras, all the wisdom arising from hearing and thinking about the meaning of emptiness is obstructed, then this is not the case in the Vajrayana. Because in addition to the common objects of knowledge known as the Paramita Vehicle, one still wants to accomplish the body and wisdom of the Great Secret by determining as empty all the elaborations such as self-grasping in the infinite non-common objects of knowledge known as the Vajrayana through the wisdom of hearing and thinking. That scripture is determining
