Each of the practitioners in different places should understand it individually. Son of lineage, in terms of the ultimate truth, whether the Tathāgatas appear or do not appear. For what reason do the Bodhisattvas shave their hair and beards, wear saffron robes, and with true faith renounce the household life to become homeless? Having renounced, in order to attain that Dharma, they strive diligently like their hair or clothes being on fire, and abide without destruction. Son of lineage, if the ultimate truth did not exist, then celibacy would become meaningless, and the appearance of the Tathāgatas would also become meaningless. Because the ultimate truth exists, the Bodhisattvas are called skilled in the ultimate truth. As it is said. Furthermore, if one thinks that not wanting even a little bit of the nature of things, and wanting the nature of emptiness that is uncreated and independent, is contradictory, then thinking so is not understanding the intention of the Madhyamaka treatises. If things like the eye were self-existent as grasped by children, then even inverted consciousness would be able to understand it, and therefore celibacy would become meaningless. Because it is not self-existent, celibacy becomes meaningful. Chandrakirti says that my statement that things like the eye are empty of their own nature and without self-existence is not something that the Madhyamikas establish after examining it with the reasoning that is established in their own system (322a). Rather, it is like the conventional truth of the world, which speaks of dependent origination, as examined by others, saying that emptiness, which is uncreated and does not depend on others, is the nature of all dharmas. Because the nature seen by children is a created nature, it depends on the uncreated nature, and the nature is not truly established. Since the uncreated nature is not something that can be seen by children, with this reasoning, it is used to refute another system that contradicts the dependent origination of the conventional truth of the world. Merely saying that the conventional truth of the world speaks of dependent origination, in conventional terms, because it is necessary to explain to others that emptiness without self-existence is self-existence, if there is concern that clinging to elaboration will arise again, then the world...

When examining that very nature with the reasoning of other schools that speak of conventional truth as dependent origination, the nature of emptiness, that very ultimate truth, is neither the nature of something nor nothing. Because it is pacified by its very nature, just as the fire that burns wood burns wood, and the very fire that burns wood is also burned, and both fire and wood are reduced to ashes. Therefore, the nature that speaks of emptiness as nature is neither existent by its own essence nor non-existent. Because the artificial nature of conventional truth is not established as true, therefore, the non-artificial nature of ultimate truth cannot be established either. Even so, firstly, children (322b) assert that the nature of conventional truth, which is established by the conceptualization that the worldly conventional truth does not agree with dependent origination and terminology, is merely a conventional illusion. In order to dispel the doubt that the nature of the object of apprehension, which is the extremely dense darkness of inverted attachment, is mistaken for its nature, yogis assert that the nature of conventional truth, which is established by the conceptualization that the worldly conventional truth agrees with the terminology of dependent origination, is not established as true. Because the nature of forms, etc., is merely an unreal conventional illusion produced by causes and conditions, and because it is established as the nature of emptiness in which no nature is perceived, it is stated in the presence of the previous conceptual imputation. In this way, that ultimate nature, which imputes selflessness as nature, is also asserted as the nature of the Madhyamaka's own system, but it is not established there either. If it were, it would become a Madhyamaka that establishes illusion as a reason. And if there were a nature of emptiness like a conventional illusion, it should exist in the object and subject of the meditative wisdom of learners and non-learners. But because there is no sight of the nature of the two truths in that. In that case, what is the contradiction that you expect? Therefore, when other children grasp non-nature as nature, when the worldly conventional other schools of yogis, in relation to that, state the opposite nature in that, that nature that is stated in that way is not established as nature.
