Although relying on this and regarding it as self, it should also be known that this will not become the five types of individuals in the continuum. Therefore, when explaining the Prasangika's treatises here, the meaning of saying that it is established based on the aggregates, elements, and sources is that, in terms of conventions, it is unreasonable to be other than those objects of ego-grasping, and it is because the conventional truth is not examined and left as it is. Because the self-grasping of worldly people is all based on the aggregates. Furthermore, what is said to be established based on the nature of phenomena is that all phenomena such as persons are the quiescence of being free from elaboration and all characteristics, and due to not realizing it as such and realizing it, they are established as Buddhas and sentient beings. The necessity is that even if the person is not substantially existent, it is easy to establish conventions, and in order to conform to the world, and in order not to be afraid, and in order to proclaim the faults and virtues of oneself and others, this is what the teacher Victorious Son said. In the Ornament of the Sutras, it is said: From the differences in the states of practice that are completely purified from all afflictions, the differences in entering and continuity are also shown by the person. Thus it is said. Placing the pride of self on the essence and showing it with its sound is that when the essence is used by the great secret Vajrayana practitioner for liberation when it is not examined, in the base, path, and result, in order to continuously do its work, the sound of self is added to it. It harms reality. Those bases of establishment, how they are established in the two truths are not self, therefore, if examined with reason, the person cannot be established, and especially if the essence itself is the self, then, as it is said: Possessing the sound of the lion of no-self. And, the true no-self is suchness. And, the completely pure no-self dharma. Etc., it can be known from the countless tantras that it is not said that there is a self, and saying that there are two types of enlightenment, the self that exists and the self that does not exist, is respected by many in India, and the Sthavira Nikaya, and the Jonangpa in Tibet, and the Riwo Gandenpa (Gelugpa), and the Butonpa, etc. say, but it is not the intention of the Sugata, therefore, proclaiming the Buddha's teachings in this way is a teaching with errors, this is the view of the great teacher Vasubandhu from before.

It is also stated in the ninth chapter of the Abhidharmakosha, and the great master Chandrakirti refutes this in detail in the root verses and commentary of the Madhyamakavatara. Therefore, those who desire liberation should think carefully, and those with eyes should be careful not to blindly jump into the abyss like those without eyes. In this land of snow (referring to Tibet), I do not even exist in name, and to say that persons, sentient beings, individuals, etc., are substantially existent, and that although I am not substantially existent, as the basis of karma and its results, there is no harm from logical valid cognition, and to believe that it is established by nominal valid cognition, and to believe that there is a permanent self that is different from the aggregates, and to believe that persons, sentient beings, etc., do not exist, is contrary to all schools of thought from the Vaibhashika to the Madhyamaka, and has fallen into the tenets of those who have become external to the teachings of the Buddha. If I do not even exist in name, then it cannot be established by relying on it, and it contradicts both scripture and the world. If even the Vaibhashika does not accept that a person is substantially existent, then what need is there to mention the higher schools of thought? The commentary on the Abhidharmakosha says, "If it is said that it exists only as an imputation, then we also say the same." And, "Therefore, a person exists as an imputation, just like the aggregates and the continuum, etc." And, "Therefore, some cling to a person, and some cling to the non-existence of everything, which is the reason why faults have occurred in this teaching." And so on. The imputed self established by the nominal valid cognition from the perspective of direct perception (303b), exists as the basis of karma and its results. If it is established that there is no harm from logical valid cognition, then such a self can be analyzed, because logical valid cognition is not the object of harm, and it can be established when analyzed by nominal valid cognition. If you admit that there is a self that can be analyzed as the basis of karma and its results, then you should not prevent the self of a person from being negated during analysis, and the object of the coemergent self that exists without analysis should not be established by nominal valid cognition, because the valid cognition of nominalists is the wisdom that clings to the worldly, true, conventional truth, because what that wisdom measures and clings to appears to be true, and worldly people who cling to it say that it is valid cognition, but it is not valid cognition, because it is a mistaken consciousness. It is established because in this Prasangika school, all consciousness that clings to the conventional is under the power of ignorance.
