Satisfied, those beings (280b) Because they do not seek the meaning of Madhyamaka, they do not seek the meaning of imputation. If you wish, haven't you also praised the Buddha for explaining dependent origination in a way that only the omniscient can understand, not ordinary people? Furthermore, if all phenomena are nothing other than imputation, then is the object of negation of the sign imputed and established or not? If it is, then it should exist nominally like other conventional phenomena, because it is a phenomenon of imputation. If not, then the object of negation of the sign should exist in substance and object established from its own side and in knowable things, because the object of negation of the sign is any phenomenon of substance and imputation, because it is not an imputed phenomenon. If the first sign is not established, then the object of negation of the sign should not be able to be an object of mind, because it does not exist in any knowable thing of substance and imputation. If there is no pervasion, then such an object of negation of the sign, as a subject, should exist in knowable things, because it is able to be an object of mind. If there is no pervasion, if it is able to be an object of mind, then one must hold a superior tenet that cannot exclude non-knowable things, so the tenet is good. If you agree with the above, then the innate clinging to truth that grasps the object of negation of the sign should never arise in sentient beings, because the object of negation of the sign is not able to be an object of mind. There is no choice but to agree. In that case, all sentient beings will be liberated effortlessly, so we are very pleased with this system, because now the wheel of samsara will be cut off. (281a) Therefore, the self of the object of negation of the sign, since it is not established in that and that, if it is not imputed and established by the mind of grasping that is established in that and that, then because it is established from its own side, it is not established in that way, so such an object of negation of the sign should not exist in the mind at all, but it is not like that either. Your belief that the object of negation of the sign is not established by concept is just your opinion, it does not conform to reality. Just like a variegated rope being mistaken for a snake, in the face of the concept of grasping a snake, even though it is not a snake, it is thought to be a snake, this is just an imputation. Thus, if the concept does not impute the variegated rope as a snake, then the knowledge of grasping a snake on the variegated rope will not arise in the mindstream of a person, this is proven to all the world by direct experience. Therefore, all rational objects of negation and objects to be established are imputedly existent in this system of Madhyamaka.

Furthermore, according to your view, the probandum of a sign would also inevitably become a knowable that is completely non-existent, because if the refutation is completely non-existent, then the establishment would also be equally non-existent, since all refutations and establishments are merely imputations of dependence, and cannot be established otherwise. If you accept this, then you must also accept that emptiness, the ultimate truth, is not a knowable, which you also do not accept. Therefore, the refutation of a sign or valid reasoning is not established by distorted conceptualizations, and this is a mistaken commitment of your own philosophical position. What is commonly known as a knowable is that the opposite of establishing sound as impermanent through the sign of being produced, the refutation of the sign, sound as permanent, is also a dharma imputed by distorted (281b) conceptualizations. However, the assertion that it does not exist in a non-distorted realm is a statement of unexamined convention, which is not at all harmed by the world. Therefore, even if you do not accept that the refutation of a sign is an imputation, if you forcefully state it based on its existence in a common knowable, then you will incur a fault here. Just as you establish emptiness by seeking the meaning of imputation in things established by conventional valid cognition, similarly, the dharma of the refutation of a sign is also merely imputed by conceptualization. Therefore, you must also seek the meaning of imputation in it to establish emptiness. If that is the case, then the refutation of a sign is not the refutation of a sign. You must again seek the meaning of imputation in it and establish emptiness as the refutation of imputation. If that is the case, then the refutation of a sign is endless, and therefore the time of refuting it will never exist, and therefore it will also be impossible to generate the special realization of Madhyamaka. If the refutation of a sign is not an imputation, then it will also contradict the impossibility of finding it by searching. Now, let us stop the debate of refutation and establishment on those meaningless husks. Now, let us explain the meaning of the text. Second, there are three: refuting the self by examining it in five ways, refuting the self that cannot be said to be the same or different, and concluding with negation. First, refuting the self that is different from the aggregates, refuting the self that is the same entity as the aggregates, refuting the self that is the basis and the supported of the aggregates, refuting (282a) the self that possesses the aggregates, summarizing the meaning of negation, and how it becomes the antidote to the twenty views of the perishable.
