Just as when a sparrow's eyes are diseased, no appearances arise, similarly, when a wise person, with the sun of true wisdom, destroys all the habits of ignorance, the mind and mental factors do not see objects. Furthermore, it is said there, because the mind of existence and non-existence is obstructed from being understood, therefore, the wisdom of non-discrimination of the wise arises in the manner of being unborn. Moreover, it is said that not only does the Buddha not have discrimination, but also that the proliferation of the sphere of non-discriminating wisdom is absent, as it is said: "The minds of non-discriminating objects also generate non-discrimination, because of the nature of selflessness and so forth, like minds with discrimination. Because all knowable things are not established, for whom the non-discriminating mind does not arise, that incomparable one knows thus." To realize that (83b), for whom the mind does not arise, that is the actual Buddha. Discrimination itself is the cause of purification, and non-discrimination is the cause of expansion. And so forth, it widely appears in the system of the Svatantrika. Even so, the subject of phenomena, the vast proliferation, relies on the establishment of conventional truth, and when seeking that itself, by relying on the conventional, the way of establishing conventional phenomena as nominal designations, the Prasangika and Svatantrika schools have different views. That is to say, all of us who enjoy phenomena with characteristics, because these phenomena have functions, therefore these things are established as inherently real, not only are they grasped innately, but also conceptually. So, from the perspective of function, does the functioning thing function because of the power of the thing itself abiding in inherent reality? Or does the thing itself, even if it does not abide in inherent reality, merely appear to function by imputation? Those who speak of things as existing believe that the thing itself functions because of the power of abiding in inherent reality. Thus, because it functions, the thing is also inherently real. That itself is also the ultimate truth, because the function itself also abides by the power of the inherently real thing, so there is no deception in its presence, so whatever phenomenon is true and established by the power of the thing, is true and established as the ultimate truth. Phenomena that do not conform to the mind of grasping at reality since beginningless time, because they are not established in meaning, are unreal and false.

This is for the sake of speaking. For example, the Mind-Only school believes that, due to false appearances, the sense consciousness's grasping and grasper that look outward are separated, and only the consciousness that looks inward, merely the object of awareness (84a), is clear because it inherently possesses the power of truth, and the function of awareness also arises from the power of the object itself. Like this, the object that becomes from its function is called the ultimately true established truth. Such knowledge is the valid cognition of the ultimate truth, because the illusion of dualistic appearance from before, later did not realize its separation and became the manifestor of the object, just like inverted cognition. Both the Consequentialist and Autonomist Madhyamikas believe that objects that have become ultimately true function through the addition of power, and the valid cognition that establishes this function agrees that neither of the two truths exists. This is because objects that have become capable of functioning in the ultimate truth do not exist in the knowable, so they think. Even so, the Autonomist believes that worldly objects have the nature of being able to function through the addition of power, and the valid cognition that establishes it, even if it does not exist in the ultimate truth, when distinguishing and establishing it in the conventional truth, worldly illusion-like objects have the nature of being able to function through the addition of power, and the valid cognition that establishes it is established there. Because whatever worldly object is established, it is established from the perspective of being able to function or holding its own characteristics. And the nature of its function and holding its own characteristics also relies on the power of the object itself that establishes it, as the cause and condition for functioning and holding its own characteristics. In the Blaze of Reasoning, it says: "Without the ladder of correct conventionalities, wanting to climb to the top of the correct house (84b) is not suitable for the wise." Thus it is said. That which is called the excellent house refers to the excellent house of liberation that is manifestly superior to the places of the three realms, built by countless skillful craftsmen, decorated with extremely tall pillars of the limbs of enlightenment, plastered with the white lime of limitless virtuous dharmas, illuminated by the rays of light from the face of the Sugata like the moon, completely clearing away all obscurations, and is the abode of the all-knowing. Climbing to its top is relying on correct conventionalities.
