It is by relying that things are explained as being without inherent existence, but worldly people take their own consciousness as authority and do not prove that form etc. exist and that a barren woman's child does not exist. Because the darkness of ignorance obscures the eye of wisdom, it is impossible to prove it that way. Therefore, although similar to being unborn, things like hair streaks appear to those with dimness, just as a barren woman's child does not appear. Similarly, in conventional terms, although similar to being without inherent existence, form etc. change in the realm of a child's mind, while a barren woman's child etc. do not change. It should be understood that there is no contradiction. Just as hair streaks do not appear to those without dimness, when the noble ones see that very thing, they do not see any conventional dharmas, so they see form etc. How could there be an investigation into why they do not see a barren woman's child? Secondly, there are two types: those not determined by reason and those not determined by scripture. The first is: If dreams, Gandharva cities, etc., mirage water, optical illusions, reflections, etc., are seen as unborn, although similar to being non-existent, why does it happen that way for you? That is not reasonable. Let the debate and investigation for those with dimness stop. For now, this should be greatly debated and investigated by you yourself. If even you see dreams and Gandharva cities with enclosures, as well as mirage water and optical illusions and reflections, etc., and rock crevices and snakes, although they appear without inherent existence, although similar to a barren woman's child in the sense of being non-existent, why do you see dreams etc., but not see a barren woman's child? After debating and investigating yourself in this way, then debate and investigate us as well. Therefore, it is unreasonable to say that if form etc. are without inherent existence, then existence or non-existence is the same as a barren woman's child. The second is: In that very nature, how are these unborn, yet why, like a barren woman's child, are they not objects of worldly sight? Because they are not objects of sight, therefore this statement is not definite. You (the opponent) say: If things do not exist in that very nature, then in conventional terms they are like a barren woman's child. Saying this becomes an uncertain pervasion, because how are these, such as form etc., unborn in the ultimate sense, like dreams etc., but why do they not become objects seen by the world like a barren woman's child?
