Because, for those worldly people who are covered by the thick darkness of ignorance, which is like a mass of rain clouds obscuring the nature of space, so that they cannot see the emptiness of the blue nature of space, it is like that. Secondly, there are two types: simile and meaning. First, the simile: Just as the power of cataracts causes some to mistakenly grasp at hairs, double moons, peacock feathers, and bees, etc. Relying on the obscuring power of ignorance, so that they cannot see them. If asked, how do they see them in reverse? The answer is: Due to the power of ignorance, they appear as such to what is not. This is shown through the way of simile. Just as the power of cataracts causes those with cataracts to mistakenly grasp at hairs, double moons, peacock feathers, and bees, etc., which do not exist, although they are essentially unborn, as real things. Secondly, the meaning: Similarly, due to the fault of ignorance, the unwise understand conditioned phenomena in various ways. For example, just like the above simile, sentient beings also cannot see the nature of things due to the fault of ignorance. The unwise accumulate merit, non-merit, and immovable karma, and understand the conditioned phenomena of samsara's vessel and contents in various ways. The sutra says, "This is because of ignorance that actions arise." And, "The person associated with ignorance accumulates meritorious manifest actions, non-meritorious manifest actions, and immovable manifest actions." It also says, "When ignorance ceases, actions cease." Thus spoke the Bhagavan. Secondly: If karma arises dependent on ignorance, and without ignorance, it does not arise. Only the unwise think so. The sun of virtue dispels the thick darkness, and the wise understand emptiness and are liberated. If we speak in terms of arising and ceasing, dependent on the non-nature of ignorance, the non-nature of karma arises. If there is no entity of ignorance, then the entity of actions will not arise. Only foolish children think so, because they have not realized that both are unborn from the beginning.

Because of clinging to the belief that actions arise from ignorance and do not arise without it. Therefore, those wise ones who have completely dispelled the darkness of delusion with the sunlight of good wisdom that sees that very reality will be liberated from samsara. As it is said in the scriptures, actions arise from the condition of ignorance, and by understanding the emptiness of dependent origination as an illusion, ignorance is abandoned, and actions are no longer taken. Second, debate. There are two answers. First: If things do not exist in that very nature, then in convention they are like the child of a barren woman. They would become non-existent, therefore, they are by their very nature existent. Form and so on, those are truly existent by their very nature. If form and other things do not exist in that very reality, that is, in the ultimate sense, then in convention, just like the child of a barren woman, those conventional things should also become non-existent in convention. Since that is not the case, but they exist in convention, that is why it is said. Second, showing that the example is uncertain. This accusation does not apply to the Madhyamikas. Three things that one's own school should not refute. First, there are two things that are uncertain for those with cataracts and uncertain for yourself. First: Those who are changed by the objects of cataracts, such as hairs, etc., since they are unborn, should be blamed for a while, because they are connected with the ignorance of cataracts from behind. Answer: Those who have become the objects of minds such as cataracts, hairs, etc., are the same as the unborn child of a barren woman. You see non-existent hairs, why do you not see the child of a barren woman? You should temporarily blame those with cataracts themselves. From behind, why do you see unborn forms and not see the child of a barren woman? Those whose eyes of wisdom are bound and obscured by the cataracts of ignorance should be blamed and investigated. We should not be blamed, because we yogis see things in this way. Those who wish to attain the wisdom of yogis should especially believe in the teachings that declare the nature of things in this way.
