Both are refuted. Refuting both with reasons that are not permissible. The first is: If it is considered that things arise only without a cause, then all things would always arise from all things. To produce fruits, people in the world would not collect seeds, etc., through hundreds and thousands of ways. The Samkhyas say: If things arise from a cause, whether from self, other, or both, even if the said faults arise, there is no fault for us, because we have not admitted that things arise from a cause. Inner and outer things arise from nature. For example, the roughness and softness of the stems and petals of lotuses, although there is no certain author, they arise there. The same is true for peacocks and sapphires, etc., although no one grasps them to arrange colors and shapes, etc., they arise from nature. If it is considered that all inner and outer things arise only without a cause, then all fruits (252b) would arise at any time from all causes or non-causes. Just as the Panasa tree arises from trees that are not the cause of fruits, mangoes, etc., would also arise from things that are not causes, because they are the same in that they are not causes. Similarly, the ripening of mangoes, etc., which depends on the difference of time, would also always exist, because it does not depend on time. Similarly, just as the peacock is not the cause of peacock feathers, crows would also have peacock feathers. Therefore, if all beings arise in all places and times, that is also non-existent. If one clings to the idea that it exists, it is not only contrary to reason but also contrary to what is seen. Because if it arises without a cause, people in the world would not collect and strive through hundreds and thousands of labors to produce the fruits of grains, trees, cotton, etc. The second is: If beings are without a cause, like the fragrance of a Utpala (藏文:ཨུཏྤ་ལ་,梵文天城体:उट्पल,梵文罗马拟音:utpala,汉语字面意思:blue lotus) in the sky, it cannot be grasped. Therefore, holding the extremely bright world, also therefore, please understand according to your own wisdom that the world arises from a cause. Furthermore, the world, which is a dharma, the sky

Just like the fragrance of a blue lotus, it does not exist because it cannot be grasped by one's own cognitive consciousness, because if beings were empty of causes, it is precisely for this reason. This world, you should know, arises from causes, because the extremely bright world is also grasped by the cognitive consciousness of each sentient being. The opponent is like arising from one's own mental state. If you say the example is not established, then it is established, because when you generate a mind with a blue appearance, it arises from blue, because you see that it cannot arise without it. Secondly, if you are confused about this, it contradicts understanding the other shore. Two ways of showing the wrong view of the non-existence of the other shore. The first is: Those elements, by what nature does your consciousness take as its object, if it is not of that nature, who has thick darkness of mind, how can he correctly understand the other world? Those who claim that elements are the cause say: How can one deny that mind and mental events arise from the cause of elements, when it is clearly seen? Because it is seen, and also because it would fall into the fault of speaking. What is visible in this matter of cause and effect? The cause of these things is the four great elements. Just as one sees the colors and shapes of lotuses, cotton, apples, peacocks, and crows from the differences in the ripening of those elements, so too the objects of consciousness, which completely sever the object, also arise from the four great elements. For example, just as the ability to intoxicate beings arises from the ripening of the differences in the mixture of alcohol and medicine, so too consciousness arises from the ripening of the differences in the moisture of semen and blood, and consciousness completely severs things. Therefore, this world arises only from the cause of elements, and it is impossible for the results of good and non-good actions to arise in this life and the next. Beautiful woman, enjoy and eat well! You will not have the body that has passed away again. This body is just an aggregate, and it will not return after it is destroyed or gone. One's own daughter said this in order to make her believe that there is no afterlife, and in order to lead her in that direction. One can ask this: How do you know that it is reasonable that there is no afterlife? The answer is: The previous world
