Since neither a false truth nor truth as false is established, all the imputations and slanders made upon phenomena, both existent and nonexistent, from form (205a) to omniscience, which are encompassed by the two truths, have been determined as not established by their own nature. Therefore, the establishment of the existence or nonexistence of all phenomena of elaboration is said here to be merely in accordance with the wishes of those to be tamed, and this very statement that it is merely a reiteration of the world distinguishes the difference between the Prāsaṅgika and Svātantrika schools of Madhyamaka. The Svātantrika Madhyamikas accord by acknowledging that the means of valid cognition for refutation and establishment, which are renowned as valid in the world, are established as valid in conventional truth, and thereby refute the inherent nature of phenomena. The Prāsaṅgikas, on the other hand, say that even though the means of valid cognition for refutation and establishment, which are renowned as valid in the world, are not established as valid in conventional truth, they refute the inherent nature of phenomena by speaking in accordance with the way things are renowned in the world, separating the occasion for debate with the world. This statement is a faultless explanation of the Kagyu Dakpo tradition. Refutation of the Mind-Only School's View. Secondly, there are two parts: the former position and the refutation of that position. The first part is divided into: establishing the meaning of the scriptures, and thereby showing the establishment of one's own system. The first part is divided into: the reason why the prince realizes the three realms as only mind, and showing the reason why there is consciousness even without external objects. The first part is: Because there is no object of grasping, the grasper is not seen, The three realms are well understood as only consciousness. The bodhisattva abiding in wisdom, Will realize that very nature as only consciousness. Those who speak of mind-only cannot tolerate what the Madhyamaka school says, so in order to eliminate their establishment of their own fabricated schools, it is stated here: The bodhisattva on the sixth ground, who abides in the practice of the Perfection of Wisdom, will realize the suchness of the ultimate truth of all phenomena as only consciousness, because he realizes that the mind has no object of grasping, and therefore he does not see the grasper that depends on it. These three realms are merely consciousness devoid of external objects. Through prolonged habituation, one can attain the inexpressible state of consciousness that is free from the grasped and the grasper.

In order to fully understand each in its own self-aware way, the second point is: Just as the wind stirs the ocean, waves arise from the vastness. From the seed of all, called the Alaya consciousness, arises only consciousness through its own power. If it is meaningless to merely be consciousness, then how does the consciousness of objects such as form arise? Just as the wind stirs the ocean, and waves of various sizes arise from the vastness, similarly, from the seed of all defiled dharmas, the all-encompassing Alaya consciousness, which has been entering from beginningless time, moment by moment, the habit of clinging to the apprehended and the apprehender fully ripens, obtaining its own real entity, and is ceasing. In the Alaya consciousness, the difference of habit, the cause of the arising of consciousness related to its own form and following it, becomes the condition for the full ripening of its own power, and thus only impure other-dependent consciousness arises, but children perceive this as the apprehended and the apprehender. The apprehended, which is different from consciousness, does not exist at all. For example, those who claim Ishvara as the cause say: The cow is the cause of cow hair, etc., the crystal is the likeness of water, etc., the Plaksha tree is like branches, etc., that is the cause of all sentient beings. Just as Ishvara is considered the maker of beings, so too the Alaya consciousness proponents say that the Alaya is the cause of the seed from which all things arise. Ishvara is permanent, while the Alaya is impermanent, this is merely the difference. The second point is: Therefore, the nature of other-dependence becomes the cause of the imputed existence of things, arising without an external object, existence and all elaborations are not objects, but are inherently existent. The proof of the existence of the Alaya consciousness is that the scriptures establish it in this way, therefore, the nature of other-dependence becomes the cause of the false existence of things of the two selves. This must be admitted, because it is considered the foundation of all networks of conceptualization. Otherwise, without a basis for confusion, nothing can be mistaken for the two selves. For example, the cause of mistaking a rope for a snake, and the cause of mistaking a pot, etc., do not arise in the sky, etc., without relying on earth, etc.
