If the Mind-Only school exerts great effort to prove an external object of form that is not mind, then what could be more ridiculous than a Mind-Only school that proves in this way? Therefore, are the distinctions you make between Madhyamaka and Mind-Only the result of such deep thought? These are merely hypocritical words that do not become a sacred undertaking. (14a) The two intermediate distinctions you mention, namely the distinction between true and false Mind-Only and the distinction between Madhyamaka and Mind-Only, are not pure actions because the classification of tenets does not accord with the Buddha's teachings. You have not mentioned at all the difference between the views of the Mind-Only school and the Madhyamaka school, but you seem to have listed many non-distinguishing points as distinguishing points. So, what is the real distinguishing point? The Mind-Only school believes that mind, consciousness, awareness, intelligence, intellect, knowledge, and wisdom, these synonyms, are truly existent in the ultimate truth, possessing the nature of the perfectly established. If the nature of the perfectly established is established in this way, it will fall into the extremes of permanence and annihilation. Therefore, the Madhyamaka school surpasses the extremes of permanence and annihilation, claiming that its own tenet is more excellent. The schools that are based on the belief that mind truly exists in the ultimate truth are divided into two types: those with aspects and those without aspects. The first type believes that since there is no duality of grasper and grasped with respect to external objects, all phenomena relative to external objects are accepted as Mind-Only, but with respect to inner consciousness, the grasper and grasped of the aspects of objects are accepted as different entities. The second type believes that if the grasper and grasped relative to inner consciousness are accepted as different entities, then the selflessness of phenomena will not arise. Therefore, they proclaim that these aspects are false like the illusion of hair, and thus proclaim that non-dual wisdom or consciousness itself is truly existent. The first type is further divided into three schools: the half-egg school, the equal number of grasper and grasped school, and the diverse non-dual school. The second type (14b) believes that although wisdom is not tainted by the aspects of grasper and grasped, for such omniscient wisdom, depending on whether objects appear or not, there are two types: the tainted aspect false school and the untainted aspect false school. Mind, awareness, consciousness, intellect, etc., have the same meaning.

How can merely stating that some dharmas, such as the expression of names, do not truly exist, without any mental image arising in the mind, be a correct way to establish Madhyamaka? If Madhyamaka, which is free from elaborations such as the truth of all dharmas, is not established, then merely stating that appearance will not establish it. And if one does not say that all dharmas are not established in that way, then merely stating that appearance will not establish one as a Madhyamika. If it is not established, then the difference between Madhyamaka and Cittamātra would be that the difference between Cittamātra and Madhyamaka can be distinguished by whether one believes that the meaning of a pot is truly established in a pure place or not. Because your answer of 'the sign is not established' is the same here. Therefore, by stating that false appearances are Madhyamaka, one has uprooted one's own object of attachment by the very contradiction of one's own words. So, in which of the four philosophical schools is the false appearance school included? If you think it is included in Madhyamaka, then why do you not include it in the divisions of Madhyamaka, but include Yoga practice in the divisions of Cittamātra? In the divisions of Madhyamaka, you include Sutra practice, Yoga practice, and popular practice. Since you have enumerated false appearances in the divisions of Cittamātra, what is unreasonable about saying that it is the superior Madhyamaka approved by Maitreya? In general, there is no difference between Śākyamuni and Maitreya as Buddhas (15a), but the teacher of this field is Śākyamuni himself. He prophesied that Nāgārjuna and Asaṅga would be the founders of Madhyamaka and Cittamātra. Therefore, if one is a Madhyamika in the teachings of this field, one must be in agreement with the Madhyamaka that follows Nāgārjuna. If not, who would believe even if they said many speculations about the Madhyamaka of Maitreya, etc.? If that were the case, then the eight Madhyamakas approved by the eight close sons of the Bodhisattvas, and the thousand different Madhyamakas approved by the thousand Buddhas of the Fortunate Aeon, etc., could be established endlessly. If the Madhyamaka approved by Maitreya does not establish Madhyamaka in your biased view, then the Madhyamaka approved by Nāgārjuna will also not establish Madhyamaka, because they are equally noble. That is to say, if the Teacher taught the vehicles of the Hearers and Solitary Realizers, then that would also become the Great Vehicle, because
