Those who misunderstand this, thinking that the teachers who have attained the union of those who do not need to study in the holy land (India) have already forbidden it, so it is permissible to stop elaborating. Furthermore, from the meaning and commentaries of the secret mantra, if the meaning of nominal fabrication is not established in Madhyamaka, then the profound meaning of the mantra cannot be found, and the ocean of scripture and reasoning is extremely limitless. Here, regarding the way to attain Buddhahood from the two great approaches of Sutra and Tantra, in the Sino-Tibetan region, some people think that there is no difference between the basis from which to practice and the basis and result of what is achieved, (24a) but they think that the path of practice in what way, there is a profound difference in superiority and inferiority, quick achievement and non-achievement. Others think that although there is no difference in the basis, there is a difference in superiority and inferiority in the result due to the power of the difference in the path. Considering the aspect that there is no difference in the basis among these two views, Sakya translator Sherab Rinchen said: "It is not appropriate to say that the wisdom of non-duality is truly established by nominal fabrication, but it is not appropriate for Madhyamaka. However, the wisdom of the two emptinesses exists like an illusion in the continuum of all sentient beings, which is the Tathagatagarbha of the basic time. If one practices on this through the path of Sutra and Tantra, then it is the wisdom of the path time. If all the obscurations are completely eradicated, then the wisdom of the complete Buddha of the result time is also established there. Therefore, those who do not understand the key points of this matter cannot understand the classification of the Tathagatagarbha of the three causes, paths, and results in the Mahayana classic 'Ratnagotravibhāga', and they cannot correctly understand the classification of the three continuums mentioned in the tantric scriptures." He said. To this, some later Dagpo Kagyu people mistakenly thought that this was a good saying without any error, and they said, "Even if Gampopa does not rely on tantra, he can directly introduce the wisdom of Mahamudra to the first sentient beings, so that it turns completely inward, thereby revealing the original or primordial wisdom." They say so. Gampopa would not agree with this view even in a dream, and what the translator Sherab Rinchen said is completely wrong, (24b) this wrong statement is the view held by the venerable Marpa and his sons, which is very clear, the venerable Re

Here, due to the kindness of the great Paṇḍita, it is said: The so-called "mind empty of the two, grasper and grasped," is what the Sutra school says. From the explanation of the Sutra school's intention, the "mind empty of the two, grasper and grasped," whether it is considered to be any of the six or eight consciousnesses, for these collections of consciousnesses, it is explained as the wisdom of transformation that has completely abandoned all parts of the two obscurations, such as the grasper and grasped. In this system, when the Madhyamaka Prasangika examines, all collections of consciousnesses are of the nature of adventitious stains, so it is impossible for it to transform into the nature of stainless wisdom. If it could transform, then the result would follow the cause, and therefore it would become confused. At the stage of Buddhahood, the wisdom of the transformation of consciousness is also not accepted. Therefore, all Madhyamikas do not accept that the mind empty of the two, grasper and grasped, is truly established. But in conventional truth, some Svatantrikas say that the mind empty of two is luminous, and that it exists in the equipoise of noble Bodhisattvas and perfect Buddhas. The Prasangikas, however, believe that even in conventional truth, the activity of mind and wisdom there is completely non-existent. Therefore, for the six or eight collections of consciousness, the mind that is empty of the grasper and grasped, cannot generate the remaining habit of the manifest consciousness of the grasper and grasped. The stream of awareness of the Hearers and Solitary Realizers, Arhats, who have entered the realm of Nirvana without remainder, is not manifest, swallowed by objects, and the awareness or mind in which the appearance of duality has subsided (25a), is completely different from the Tathāgatagarbha of cause, path, and result, as explained in the Uttaratantra, and the non-dual wisdom of the three bases, paths, and results, as explained in the Tantras. If they were the same, then the result of the Sutras and Tantras, the Buddhas, would also necessarily become not the same, which you Sakya translators cannot accept, because you distinguish the Buddhas of the Sutras and Tantras as superior and inferior. Therefore, from the intermediate turning of the wheel and other scriptures, considering the luminous mind spoken of in the Tantras, in order to know that it is necessary to obtain the Buddha of the Sutras through the path of the Sutras, it is said that the nature of the eight or six consciousnesses is luminous. That is, "Mind is not mind, the nature of mind is luminous." Thus, for the mind and wisdom that do not have the mind of the grasper and grasped, it is extensively proclaimed.
