do not transform. These also deeply enter into thick sleep, without the consciousness of thought, without attachment to desirable things, and without attachment to undesirable things. Therefore, in the state of deep sleep (22b), there is no transformation into attachment and non-attachment. Therefore, the absence of the consciousness of thought does not transform all sentient beings into perfectly complete Buddhas. Therefore, the absence of the consciousness of thought does not transform into the wisdom of the Tathagatagarbha. Because in the chapter on Samadhi in the Prajnaparamita Sutra, the Bhagavan spoke of various samadhis, among which is the samadhi called "Jewel Lamp." Here, if the Jewel Lamp has no thought or appearance, then how can it become the samadhi called "Jewel Lamp"? Similarly, other samadhis will not be without thought, because they have the characteristic of self-awareness and are not the emptiness of inanimate objects. Again, it says there: Self-knowing, other-knowing, all-knowing, the supreme being who benefits all, like the teacher who transcends all, is the supreme lord of knowledge and the knowable. In particular, the mind and wisdom of the Buddhas are the objects of the minds of all sentient beings, and are said to hold all aspects of things, but have never been said to be without aspects. It says there: The vajra of the mind of the Vajradhara abides in all the nature of the minds of sentient beings. Like a flawless jewel, that which holds things is the wisdom vajra. This is also recorded in the commentaries on the glorious Ten Bhumi Sutra. In accordance with this, King Indrabhuti said in the Attainment of Wisdom: If both true appearance and false appearance exist in meaning, then the entry of omniscient wisdom is impossible (23n). In order to refute this, each chapter was elaborated, especially when refuting the absence of appearance, it is said: How to hypothetically establish with reason, after completely refuting the appearance, the absence of appearance itself cannot be established, therefore it is declared as such. If even without appearance, it is thought that wisdom will transform, then with appearance and without appearance, what is this, from where is all-knowing known? The omniscient one does not have this

Indeed. What is called wisdom is precisely conceptual thought. If all aspects are not seen, it will become mere emptiness. Such things are widely spoken of in the vast tantric scriptures. In particular, the teacher Śāntipa composed a treatise called "The Ornament of the Middle Way" to establish the false-aspectarian Mind-Only Madhyamaka, and proclaimed that all the views of tantra are in accordance with this system. However, this was refuted by the great teacher Maitrīpa. This great teacher extensively composed the Amanasika Dharma cycle, and in particular, to refute those who desire the false-aspectarian Mind-Only Madhyamaka, he composed a treatise called "The Ten Realities." Therein, it says, "Desiring to know suchness, it is neither with aspects nor without aspects. Without being adorned by the words of the guru, the Middle Way is only mediocre." Thus, it is explained in passing that this system should not be the Middle Way. And he emphasized that the wisdom of Mahāmudrā does not arise merely from aspectless wisdom, thinking, "If wisdom is truly established, how can a view arise?" The teacher LhanKye Dorje said in his commentary, "Among them, by the name 'with aspects,' the tenets of the Sūtra school and the Yoga school are held. What is called 'without aspects' also refers to the Vaibhāṣika and the Yogācāra, these people combine the views of with aspects and without aspects. Those who desire to know suchness should not accept it, because both acknowledge self-nature, and because they cannot endure examination, they are separated from the characteristics of suchness." And again, "What is called 'with aspects' and 'without aspects' is not to be accepted as the view of the Yogācāra, it is merely non-acceptance, because they also acknowledge that the objects of grasping and the grasper are the self-nature of emptiness. If one acknowledges having self-nature, then there is no suchness of the characteristic of no self-nature, so the Mind-Only that is shown is only a provisional meaning. As it is said: Nāgārjuna said, 'Whatever the Buddha said, "All these are only mind," is to dispel the fear of children, that is not reality.' etc., are widely found. To speak of false aspects is the profound meaning of mantra."
