Therefore, if it is thought that since an example of a similar instance acknowledged by other schools is not cited to refute others, and since the faults or flaws in the commitment are not eliminated, it will become the same fault. In response to this, it should be said: The fault of not citing an example of a similar instance established by one's own system, and the fault of not eliminating the flaws in the commitment, and the fault of making such accusations by yielding to the views of others (108a), are not so. Why? Because, for the sake of establishing self-origination, the meaning of self-origination committed to by the Samkhya school, just as it is determined by the Samkhya school itself, is also intended to generate certainty in other schools such as the Madhyamaka, so this reason is reasonable. The reason that can be understood through what means of reasoning, that is, in order to make others understand that reasoning, that reasoning must be stated to others. Because it must be stated, in the process of establishing the meaning of the self-origination commitment acknowledged by the Samkhya school itself, it must be stated only by the opposing Samkhya school, which is temporarily the rule of the debaters of various schools. As it is said, "Subsequent inference for the sake of others makes one's own view more clear." Because it says so. Therefore, the Samkhya school itself does not have a valid reason for establishment, but it exists in the Madhyamaka school that does not want existence to arise. Therefore, it is necessary to eliminate the pervasive fault caused by stating the example of a similar instance acknowledged by other schools that "does not arise from itself." This passage means that, for other Madhyamikas, the reason for the Samkhya school to establish self-origination is also not correct. Alternatively, in order to establish self-origination, because it must not arise from individually determined causes or from no cause, it must arise only from existence to existence. This passage is also not a reason for other schools such as the Madhyamaka, which is also a kind of statement. Because there is no example of one's own nature arising from one's own nature, in the process of establishing the meaning committed to by the Samkhya school itself (108b), only the view of pervasion and nature acknowledged by the Samkhya school itself is stated. Although in the common acknowledgment of the conventional world, there is nothing acknowledged and established by it, it reverses all the things to be established and the means of establishment from the world, thereby creating a new creation.

The refutation is as follows: Since the tenet without proof is accepted, this reasoning of the Samkhyas only deceives the Samkhyas themselves, and cannot generate certainty in self-origination for other schools such as the Madhyamikas. This should be understood. So, how is the Samkhya's position refuted? Whatever the Samkhyas themselves use to establish their own tenet is the same as what is to be established, so it has no power to establish what is to be established. This clearly shows that the Samkhya's assertion of self-origination is wrong. Therefore, in this case of refuting the Samkhyas, what need is there to state faults by means of one's own system's inference? There is no need. Furthermore, stating to the Samkhyas that it contradicts the Samkhyas' own system's tenets does not necessarily refute the existence of self-origination. If it cannot be refuted, then the statement of Acharya Aryadeva cannot reverse the Samkhyas' wrong view, and Acharya Aryadeva will become the object of refutation, so the one who speaks well will fall into a difficult situation. If it is said that the Prasangikas must also inevitably state contradictions by means of their own system's inference, then even if one does not state one's own system's validly established view, it is not that one does not state the reason and example that are accepted by others, and one has not eliminated the fault of proving what is already proven (109a). This is also what Acharya Aryadeva said. How does he state it? Things do not arise from themselves, because they exist in their own nature, like a manifest pot in front of us. Keep this in mind, because the great teacher Aryadeva said this: It is stated in his treatise: Things do not arise from themselves, because their arising would become meaningless. Only this much appears in Buddhapalita's commentary. So, how does that statement show the sign and example? It must be extracted from that statement. The word "they" in that statement refers to holding the self-nature of the reason. Why hold onto the existence of the sign? Because, for things that exist in their own nature, there is no need for further arising.
