Commentary on Entering the Middle Way, The Oral Transmission of the Glorious Omniscient One, The Chariot of the Accomplished Ones of the Dagpo Tradition. Commentary on Entering the Middle Way, The Oral Transmission of the Glorious Omniscient One, The Chariot of the Accomplished Ones of the Dagpo Tradition. The homage and introduction to the commentary. ༈ Oṃ svasti vijayantu. Om, may there be well-being and victory). From the very beginning, with the wisdom of realizing freedom from elaboration, having uprooted all the characteristics of elaboration, according to the individual capacities and inclinations of those to be tamed, I pay homage to the complete Buddha who turns the wheel of Dharma. I praise the master Nāgārjuna and his lineage, who, relying solely on conventional appearance, expound the absence of extremes such as existence, non-existence, arising, and ceasing, which are established in reality, and who possess the authority of scripture and reasoning. I praise and pay homage to the Kagyü lineage (2a) that is free from error: Chandrakīrti, who is extremely profound and fearless; Gampopa, the great power who opened up that tradition; and the Omniscient One of the Three Times, who completely understood what they taught. I pay homage to Nyenpa, the guide of beings, who is like a parent and a protector, generating the wisdom of hearing and thinking, and generating great compassion for impartial beings. The intention of the glorious Nāgārjuna, the light of Chandrakīrti, I could not bear from my heart to lead astray those who, with wrong views, see faults in the many virtuous deeds done by the youth. Therefore, for the sake of limitless beings not falling into death, I have combined this nectar of emptiness and dependent arising, which is the bliss of accomplishment. Furthermore, our own teacher, the Buddha Śākyamuni of this fortunate eon, who possesses no faults whatsoever and is endowed with complete qualities, as the supreme lamp of the world, turned countless wheels of expression and what is to be expressed, (2b) words of Dharma, and doors of Dharma in the world. If summarized, these are known as the "Three Wheels of Dharma," the "Three Discourses," and the "Eighty-Four Thousand Doors of Dharma." In order to fully grasp all of these, the "Twelve Branches of Scripture" appeared. As it is said in the scriptures: "Sometimes it is said 'I', sometimes it is taught 'no-self'. The Buddhas say 'I', and also teach that 'no-self' is not something that exists." And: "All is true, all is not true, also true and not true."

Though not true, yet not false. This was taught after the Buddha. Thus, in the nectar of the mouth of the Victorious One, the Unvanquished (Tibetan: རྒྱལ་བ་མ་ཕམ་པ།), with the sound of impermanence, suffering, selflessness, and peace, with skillful means, causing sentient beings to become weary of the three realms, and leading them into nirvana. Those who enter the path of peace have the thought of attaining nirvana. By teaching the reality of all things, such as the white lotus of the sacred Dharma, they are freed from their previous attachments, and by completely grasping skillful means and wisdom, they are matured in the supreme vehicle, and prophesied to supreme enlightenment. Thus, the noble Arya Deva said: First, avert non-merit, in the middle, avert the self, and finally, avert all views. Whoever knows this is wise. All such teachings are combined with the two paths of higher rebirth and definite goodness. Among them, for the sake of the path of higher rebirth, there is no need for the selflessness of persons and phenomena, and emptiness, (3ན) the wisdom that realizes it, and the vipassanā yoga that arises in one's own mindstream. Thus, by abandoning attachment through worldly paths, there is both the name and meaning of vipassanā yoga. Other than that, in many treatises of non-Buddhists, Bonpos, and those similar to them, although there are many establishments of emptiness, all of them are temporary emptiness, so they are not the true emptiness that is the gateway for those who desire liberation. Therefore, for the sake of the path of definite goodness, if the teaching of selflessness is not taught, then that path will definitely not lead there. The sutra says: Because of not knowing the nature of emptiness, peace, and non-arising, one wanders in samsara. Also, the sutra says: Whoever knows this non-existent dharma, he will be without attachment to all dharmas. The Praise of Transcendent World says: Without realizing the signless, you said there is no liberation. Therefore, you have fully taught this in the Mahayana. Thus, the noble Arya Deva said: The gate of peace is without a second. Also, whatever Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas go to peace, in all those sutras and treatises, it is unanimously declared that one must realize that the self of the person is not truly established.
