In that period, in order to eliminate the three aggregates, if it is said that it is not pervasive, there is no reason for it not to be pervasive, because it is relatively the same. The proponents of verbal consequences establish worldly phenomena with worldly valid cognition in the conventional realm. If there is a Madhyamika who says that there exists a valid cognition with an unerring apprehension that corresponds to the reality of such phenomena (106b), then that would not be a true Madhyamika. Is that valid cognition with an unerring apprehension established as the nature of valid cognition in the conventional realm, or is it not established? If it is not established, then it has not become valid cognition in the conventional realm either. If it is established, then the object to be refuted by the Madhyamika's reasoning has already been promised to be the conventional nature in the conventional realm. Then what is the point of being in a high position but being busy with lowly deeds? Third, when the establishment of one's own system's valid cognition is not established, when the Madhyamika who says that does not speak of the subsequent recollection of his own continuum, other Samkhyas raise the thorn of faults in the proposition and the reason, such as, what is the meaning of establishing the proposition "I am unborn"? Is it saying that the nature of the effect called "I" is not born? Or is it saying that the nature of the cause is not born? What will happen from that? If it is said that the nature of the effect is not born, then what is the use of establishing what is already established? If it is said that the nature of the cause is not born, then it becomes a contradictory meaning, because all that has birth is born only because it exists in the nature of the cause. To which Prasangika should one say this to eliminate these faults? It is said that it is not necessary to eliminate those faults, because even if they say that I am unborn with the reason of refutation in order to refute that we allow that I exist, they have not established that the self (107n) of their own system's valid cognition is unborn. The Samkhyas retort, how can there be a Svātantrika proposition that the internal sources of birth, etc., are not born from the self? Similarly, for us, what is the establishment of what is already established? It will become a contradictory meaning, and we strive to abandon what is the establishment of what is already established and what is the contradictory meaning.

Where is the reason established by one's own system of valid cognition, which is the reason for "being something that can be burned"? If there is no such thing, how can one avoid its faults? Just as there is no need to protect against hail when there is no crop. Because of the aforementioned reason, there will be no fault of becoming a fault spoken by others, therefore, it is not necessary to answer the statement of the master Āryadeva that "establishment" and "what is to be established and the means of establishing are contradictory." Here, in the old documents of the past, the Svātantrikas, in order to avoid this fault, although cause and effect do not arise from the nature of both, we Madhyamikas arise from false illusions, and such arising is not contradictory to the arising of dependent origination. For such arising, although arising cannot be established by reasoning, when speaking of conventions, we posit arising, etc., which are found by conventional valid cognition. The Prāsaṅgikas have not made any refutation or establishment in their own system regarding whether or not there is arising from a self-existent self in the two truths, and they have not seen any elaboration of valid cognition as the basis for such refutation and establishment (107b), so arising is arising. If it arises, from which of the cause and effect does it arise? When such a fault is raised, the opponent is refuting what he himself admits, and for us Prāsaṅgikas, the need to answer is small. There is such a record. Fourth, if according to the view of the Madhyamika Prāsaṅgikas, since the subject, reason, and example of one's own system of valid cognition are not established, one does not state the inference of one's own system. Although the inference established by valid cognition, for both the establisher and the refuter of the meaning of refuting self-arising in one's own system, has not eliminated the tenets of other Sāṃkhyas, etc. However, for the tenets of others such as Sāṃkhyas, etc., it is necessary to state the contradiction with the inference of the proponent himself, therefore, that inference must be directed to the mind of the Sāṃkhya himself, and there must be no faults of reason and example in the subject and pervasion, etc. For this reason, since the sign and example of one's own system of valid cognition are not stated, and the fault of that proposition, i.e., the thorn, is not removed.
