Because, regarding these phenomena that appear as external and internal objects, it has never been said that anything is a truly established entity by its own nature (90b). Because these phenomena are merely established as conventional, false phenomena. So, the early people said that in order to prevent the Svātantrikas from saying that these phenomena are established in the conventional by conventional valid cognition, so that it is reasonable to carry out the refutation and establishment of both sides. Moreover, because the Sutra School and the Mind-Only School say that valid cognition and the object of valid cognition are self-verifying, therefore the Compendium on Valid Cognition and the Commentary on Valid Cognition necessarily arise, and it is also very reasonable that the great Bodhisattva Bodhicitta diligently refutes this extensively in the Ornament of Reason and Light, etc. In order to refute that valid cognition and the object of valid cognition are self-verifying, the great scholar Nāgārjuna also analyzed in detail the sixteen types of logical terms. So, in the conventional, even though the conventional phenomena are not established by conventional valid cognition, the Consequentialist extensively proclaims the establishment of the conventional, so, does it mean that the conventional cause and effect of actions and the bondage and liberation, etc., in the conventional are also completely non-existent? It is not said like that. Because, just as those noble beings who pursue higher rebirth and definite goodness, how do they carry out the conventional establishment without examination, so I also say that. So, in the case where the conventional cause and effect of actions is not established, is it unreasonable to establish the conventional cause and effect of actions? It is not contradictory. Because, even if it is not established, the various operations of the Dharma that do so and do not do so are unfailing in the world, and in experience, in the realm of conceptual delusion (91a), it also appears as undeniable. As it is said, the great Arhat Buddhapālita said: For the sake of worldly conventions, everything is true, everything is not true. Truth and non-truth. Moreover, the Blessed One also said: Whatever is known to exist in the world, I also say exists. Whatever is known not to exist in the world, I also say does not exist. Therefore, when worldly conventions are carried out, whatever is known to be true in the world, the Blessed One also
