Because of distinguishing between not entering and not being established by valid cognition, this tenet of the Svātantrika-Madhyamaka school has not been able to fully satisfy the intention of the Complete Buddha and the great master Nāgārjuna. As the Prasannapadā says: You are not skilled in the ultimate truth and the conventional truth, therefore you put reason in a place that is fundamentally unreasonable, thereby destroying it. I am skilled in properly establishing the conventional truth, therefore I abide in the worldly side. The reason established to eliminate one side of the conventional is refuted by other reasons. Like the elders of the world, only you refute those who have fallen from the worldly dharma, not the conventional. Therefore, if it is a worldly term, then it must, like its definition, undoubtedly become the subject, therefore it will become the same fault. It is said in the text. Therefore, the Prāsaṅgikas believe that if reason is put into the conventional, and it is established there by the valid cognition that enters by the power of things, then the conventional truth will also become the ultimate truth, so it is not established in this way. However, in terms of convention, the teacher posits the conventional arrangement in accordance with the world, merely through the way of dependence, merely saying that those who desire liberation should temporarily speak of it as the basis for acceptance and rejection. As the Prasannapadā says: Similarly, if analyzed, there is no self-nature of earth and so on that is different from hardness and so on, nor is there a definition of being without support that is different from self-nature. Even so, this exists conventionally. Therefore, the teacher establishes establishment through the way of being established by merely mutual dependence. This must undoubtedly be accepted as such, and if it is not so, then would not the conventional become possessed of reason? Therefore, this would become the ultimate, not the conventional. If analyzed by reason, then it is not the case that only illusions and so on are impossible. What then? Because of the reason that will be explained, form and feeling and so on also do not exist, therefore if those, like illusions and so on, are accepted as not existing conventionally, then
