If someone asks, is there a difference between the Madhyamaka teachings of the Mantra Vehicle and the Madhyamaka teachings of myself and others? Although there is no difference in terms of the pacification of elaboration, which refutes clinging to extremes and clinging to elaborations, and does not establish anything to be established. However, the means of establishing it, some of the functions of Madhyamaka, and especially for beginners, without making mental effort, but binding with secret key points, so that naturally the view of emptiness, which is the pacification of elaboration and possesses all perfections, and whether the wisdom that realizes it arises, and on what basis (10a) the basis for cutting off elaboration, whether some differences in the Madhyamaka Dharmakaya function, and whether from the Dharmakaya conventional truth, a Dharmakaya named Dharmata ultimate truth is named, and thereby obtains the result of the union of the two truths, the body and wisdom, these differences I have long understood. However, because I slightly violated the intention of Je Raspa Chenpo, I did not dare to speak. Later, because the violation of the intention was resolved, I explained it in detail here. Furthermore, regarding the difference between the Madhyamaka views of Sutra and Tantra, the Jonangpas say: The Madhyamaka that asserts the absence of self-nature, such as Prasangika and Svatantrika, is like a self-empty dead tree, without essence and not permanent, so it is not the Madhyamaka view spoken of in the final turning of the wheel and in the Secret Mantra. Because the other-empty, unconditioned, permanent, natural, ultimate truth that transcends dependent origination is not. Even so, the view and practice of those systems were not spoken by the Buddha, and it is not meaningless to practice in that way, because it is only beneficial for dispelling clinging views that are the opposite of conventional self-emptiness. Even so, practicing view and meditation on it alone is not the supreme emptiness that becomes the definitive cause of great enlightenment, because that emptiness is not the emptiness that possesses all perfections. Zilong Chokdenpa said: When the Madhyamaka of Sutra and Tantra cuts off elaboration with view, there is no difference in refuting the arising and ceasing of the four extremes, such as existence and non-existence, from form to omniscience. However, there is a difference when practicing with meditation (10b). What is refuted in that way, such as existence and non-existence?

The clear light of wisdom that is peaceful and non-dual, the unique experience that is directed solely inward, in terms of being grasped by the profound means of mantra, is the Madhyamaka of mantra; although not grasped by the profound means of mantra, the view that is experienced from it is the Madhyamaka view that is superior to the Madhyamaka view of the Svabhavasunyata school. Because this is the unsurpassed Madhyamaka view spoken of in the later Dharma of the venerable Maitreya. This system must be established as the nominalist Madhyamaka school, because it is established by scripture and reason. It is unreasonable for Tibetans to refer to the nominalist Yogacara as the Yogacara school. The difference between the realist and nominalist schools, or between the Yogacara and Madhyamaka schools, is: acknowledging that the alaya-consciousness is truly established and acknowledging that wisdom is truly established, this is one difference; although they are the same in not acknowledging the object-grasping and subject-grasping as different entities dependent on external objects, the difference lies in acknowledging or not acknowledging the object-grasping and subject-grasping as different entities dependent on internal consciousness, this is the second difference; acknowledging the unreal conceptualization or the object-grasping aspect as truly established and acknowledging it as like an illusion, this is the third difference; acknowledging all appearances as mind and acknowledging all appearances as dharmadhatu, this is the difference. The dharmadhatu here should not be considered as the non-affirming emptiness like space that is considered by the Svabhavasunyata school, but rather refers to the clear light of the nature of mind, and even mind has two aspects, conventional truth and ultimate truth, and it refers to the latter. The difference between the two is also (page 11a): the alaya-consciousness with the dualistic appearance of object-grasping and subject-grasping and the non-dual wisdom, and it is spoken of from the aspect of the latter. So it is said. The great Bodongpa is: If one examines very closely, there is not even a slight difference between the views of Sutra and Tantra in terms of freedom from elaboration, because among all the phenomena of samsara and nirvana, there is nothing that can withstand examination and be established. Even so, if one examines slightly, the Madhyamaka of mantra is: the ultimate truth that is spontaneously accomplished, or the yoga of the Vajrayana practitioners, the conventional purity that is indestructible, the nature that possesses three special qualities, and the self and the agent, with these they accomplish the three bodies and other objects to be attained, and there are also pure individuals and material objects of the agent who do so, and if there is no examination, it is established as it is renowned.
