They also argue in agreement. However, the consequentialists do not argue in accordance with the way of refutation and establishment of that school. If they were to argue in accordance with the way of refutation and establishment of the substantialists, then you would incur the fault of becoming substantialists. This is because the consequentialists themselves possess a unique way of refutation and establishment that the substantialists do not have, namely, inference known to others, consequentialism stating contradictions, equality of reasons, the unestablishedness of the probandum being the same as the probandum, and the absence of an autonomous commitment. Of these, the first four are like weapons that destroy the other side, and the fifth is like armor that protects one's own side. The so-called "reverse army advance" is another name for the equality of reasons. Furthermore, the teachings of Zhangtang Sakya say: Consequentialism stating contradictions and equality of reasons are like the reasoning of Vishnu's short spear, which refutes the other side; the probandum being the same as the probandum is like the reasoning of armor, which protects one's own side by giving the name of one's own side to what has no own side; inference known to others is like the reasoning of a witness, which makes two disputants into one continuum. Thus it is said. It is proclaimed like the wind and recited in this way. 1 It is necessary to analyze the crude statement a little, because although the autonomous school masters have created a valid cognition of manifest perception, that is, a valid cognition that considers manifest perception itself as the valid cognition of manifest perception in the presence of the manifest perceiver, that is not considered a correct valid cognition in the Madhyamaka system, because in the Blaze of Reasoning it says: Because, the Blessed One has taught: In conventional truth, the self-nature and characteristics of phenomena are also established, but in ultimate truth, it is taught that there is no self-nature. Thus, Kausika, all phenomena are empty of self-nature, and what is empty of self-nature is non-existent. What is non-existent is the perfection of wisdom. And so on, if even the thing itself does not exist, how can its self-nature exist? Therefore, there is no harm in admitting it. There is also no harm from direct perception.

Because circumstances are reversed, and because the senses are dull, even without the ability to see, etc., hairs and flies, etc., appear to those with cataracts, just like cliffs, etc. Manifest cognition is also arrogance, so whatever manifests to whom, they will be harmed by it. Fame will not cause harm either, because the world is blinded by the darkness of ignorance, so when carefully examined, it is like a blind person examining precious jewels, unable to understand, so fame does not cause harm. Thus it is said. If manifest cognition प्रमाण (pramāṇa, valid cognition) is not truly valid, then inferential cognition प्रमाण (pramāṇa, valid cognition) is not truly valid, because all valid cognitions mainly depend on whether manifest cognition is established or not. In particular, the self-sufficient school asserts that the introspective mind and mental factors are valid cognitions, but those are the cause of the bondage of conceptual thought and are considered not to be true valid cognitions. In the Two Truths it says: Mind and mental factors are things of the three realms, are fabricated, and are conceptual thoughts with various forms. They are the cause of bondage, as you see, so it is said. If the self-sufficient school does not carefully distinguish the difference between admitting the valid cognition of the power of things, and speaks like that, there will be a great fault. The so-called power of things is that the part of the thing that functions does not depend on anything else, but functions by the power of the nature of the thing itself. The thing that functions in that way is also self-validating, and such a self-validating valid cognition is called the valid cognition of the power of things. In the Commentary on Valid Cognition, when admitting the valid cognition of the power of things that negates aspects, it is said: Whoever analyzes things, then it is not a thing. Because for them, there is no nature of one and many. And, however one thinks of things, so one is separated from aspects, what the wise say is what comes from the power of things. Because it is admitted like this. In this way, things are established by power in a self-validating way, and if the valid cognition that is established in that way is admitted by the Madhyamaka self-sufficient school, then the Madhyamaka self-sufficient school admits that all phenomena, such as things, are empty of their own nature, and
