Since there is no conceptualization in the original state, the Madhyamikas have no assertions whatsoever. If one asserts anything and has attachment, then one will not become a Madhyamika, but will fall into partiality and extremes. If you say that although it does not exist in the ultimate sense, it does exist merely conventionally, then this has already been explained above in the context of examining the arising of the conventional. The Madhyamikas consider all phenomena to be merely interdependent in the conventional sense, and emptiness in the conventional sense also makes one free from all elaboration and clinging to sides. It is not to increase some clinging, for if one does not separate from some clinging and increase them, then it is not suitable for the Middle Way. If it is not the Middle Way, then it is not appropriate to pacify all elaborations. If you say that the very statement that all phenomena are interdependent and empty is not a commitment in the conventional sense, and furthermore, are not the commitments in the scriptures to prevent the arising of the four extremes (73b) and so on, many of which have occurred, commitments? No, these are to reverse the wrong ideas of those who cling to things, such as those who say that they arise from the four extremes, and so in their delusion, they are only followed by a sound like an echo. Because there is no attachment to oneself, there is nothing to establish as one's own system. If merely speaking in front of others would make the Tathagata and the Madhyamikas have commitments, then all their commitments would be self-contradictory and subject to logical harm, because in order to reverse the attachment of limitless sentient beings, they have taught limitless things such as existence, non-existence, both, and neither, and have established limitless reasons. In that case, the Tathagata and the Madhyamikas would not be able to refute others' illusions, because their own commitments have limitless self-contradictions and logical harms. Some say that the Tathagata has the self-styled commitment of the four fearlessnesses, which is completely wrong. The Tathagata has shown the way to eliminate the deception of others' illusory speech and thought, and has said that he will not be deceived by it. He has vowed to be fearless. Thus, fabricating it in front of others is merely fame due to the power of the merit of the disciples. The Tathagata is free from fear and not

In order to pacify all fearful vows, if the Tathagata were to truly make a vow, then I would have self-grasping that is without timidity and (74a) free from attachment. In that case, whatever self-grasping and vows have internal contradictions and are harmed by reason, they should not be omniscient, like the Jains and the atomists. Therefore, although the Madhyamikas have no vows, to others, things like existence, non-existence, both, and neither, as well as dependent origination and emptiness, are merely names, terms, and conventional truths, and there is no contradiction in saying so. Because these statements themselves are the profound meaning of non-attachment and no vows, they are a means for others to understand. As the teacher said, "One should not say empty, nor should one say not empty, one should not say both or neither, but speak for the sake of imputation." For example, for someone with blurred vision, hair and other things appear in various ways, and in order to reverse the attachment to the reality of these things, someone without blurred vision also sees hair and other things in various ways, but says that these things do not exist as they appear. In this way, for someone without blurred vision, it is not necessary to see hair and other things in conventional truth. If you say, are these reasons for refuting the four extremes of birth, etc., your own reasons or the reasons of others? If it is the former, how can the non-birth etc. established by it not become your own position? If it is the latter, how can you refute others with the reasons of others? Because it is not your own, if you do not admit even a little bit of the position to be established, you do not need the reason to be established; if there is not even a little bit of the position of others to be refuted, you do not need the reason to be refuted. As it says in the "Refutation of Disputes": "If, through perception and so on, some meaning is observed, if one wants to establish or refute it, there is no quarrel with me for no reason." And "Because there is nothing to be refuted, I do not refute anything, therefore you make this accusation, saying that it refutes and acts." Like this. Therefore, it is refuted by the reason admitted by others, and the so-called reason is some universally recognized principle in the world, which is proclaimed by various schools.
