For that reason, virtue accumulated over hundreds of eons is destroyed in an instant by anger. Therefore, what need is there to mention that a non-Bodhisattva becomes angry with a Bodhisattva? It is like the water of the great ocean, which cannot be measured by bushels. In short, there is no greater sin than intolerance, because it is a sin that causes great suffering and destroys previously accumulated virtue. The third is: It makes one ugly and leads to unholy deeds. It steals the wisdom to distinguish right from wrong, and intolerance quickly throws one into the lower realms. Even if one does not practice forbearance, one cannot harm others, but only destroys oneself; if one has the power, one destroys both oneself and others, that is, frowning and so on, making one's appearance ugly, and engaging in taking weapons and so on, leading to unholy deeds. Being overwhelmed by anger, one is ignorant of what to take and what to leave, and steals the wisdom to distinguish right from wrong, which is the fault of the present life. At the time of death, the karma of intolerance quickly throws oneself into the lower realms. (61b) The second is: Patience accomplishes all the qualities that contradict what has already been said. Patience is beautiful and loved by the holy beings. One becomes wise in understanding reason and unreason, and after that, one is born in the realms of gods and humans, and all sins are exhausted. If intolerance has such faults, then what are the virtues of patience? Patience generates all the qualities that contradict what has already been said, such as displeasure. What are the virtues? In this life, patience makes one beautiful as soon as one sees the form, and generates joy. Being scolded but not scolding back, etc., is loved by the holy beings, and belongs to the ranks of the holy ones, and is respected by the joy of others. One becomes wise in understanding reason, that is, logic, and unreason, that is, illogicality, and after that, one can be born in the realms of gods and humans, good deeds increase, and all sins are exhausted. The third is: Whether ordinary people or Bodhisattvas, having understood the faults and virtues of anger and patience, abandon intolerance and always quickly rely on the patience praised by the holy ones. Whether ordinary people or Bodhisattvas, having understood the faults and virtues of anger and patience, intolerance

Having abandoned, one should always quickly rely on patience praised by the noble ones. The third is: Even if dedicated to the perfect enlightenment of the complete Buddha, if there are three attachments, then it is worldly. If there is no attachment, then the Buddha has taught that it is the transcendence of the world. If patience has attachment to the three spheres, even if dedicated to the perfect enlightenment of the complete Buddha, then it is the worldly perfection of patience. If patience has no attachment to the three spheres, then the Buddha has taught that it is the transcendence of the world. The second is: In that place, the Buddha's sons' meditation, clairvoyance, and desire and hatred are completely exhausted. He can also always destroy the worldly desire for sensual pleasures. In that place, the bodhisattva's perfection of patience is pure, and likewise, he possesses the four meditations, the four formless absorptions, the four immeasurables, and the five clairvoyances, which are the qualities of realization. By realizing that dependent origination is unchanging and indestructible, all attachments, hatred, and ignorance are completely exhausted, which is the quality of abandonment. (༦༢ན) Moreover, the bodhisattva of this place is born as the lord of the gods due to the ripening of karma. He can also always destroy the worldly people's attachment to the qualities of desire, and can be liberated from the desire realm. The third is: The Tathagata mostly praises the three dharmas of generosity, etc., for householders. The accumulation called merit is also these, the cause of the Buddha's form body. The differences in the basis of the first three perfections, the nature of the accumulation, and the classification of the fruit are clearly explained. Although bodhisattvas are the basis of the actions of the six perfections, however, the Tathagata mostly praises the three dharmas of generosity, etc., as the learning content for householder bodhisattvas, because they are easy to practice these. For renunciants, diligence, meditation, and wisdom are praised as the learning content, although it is not that they do not practice the former, but they perfect them as supplementary practices. Among the two accumulations that are the cause of Buddhahood, the accumulation called merit is also the first three perfections.
